WiFi problem

Got a strange one here.
2 android devices,on different versions of android connected to Sky fibre router.
Most websites and apps won't load,a few will, but if I switch to data they all load and if I then switch back to WiFi they continue to work.Started happening 2 days ago.
I have factory resetted the router, installed a WiFi analyser, tried different channels, different browsers, all to no avail.
I had a similar problem some time ago and that turned out to be caused by a WiFi extender. I no longer use one....but maybe a neighbour does ? I don't know.
Doing a speed test reveals no issues, ping is low and speeds as to be expected.
Oh I have a WiFi connected printer which is working and a wired pc which is working perfectly.
Any ideas ?

Any other wifi devices you can test with? The wifi connected printer will work fine since it mostly deals with local connections, it will hardly access the internet at all.

Does it happen with both 2.4GHz anf 5GHz? Could try giving both different names, then trying both seperately and see if the issue persists on both bands.

I'm ahead of you :)
It's the same on both bands.
I think my next step is to try my devices on someone elses WiFi

Sky DNS server stable? You might be failing to connect on wifi devices, mobiles start using the alternatives from the networks etc...

New router arrived yesterday.I left all the settings at default. It worked without hiccup all night.
This morning the same problem reappeared :(

After 4 days toing and froing with Sky,changing settings etc they've basically wiped their hands of me saying there's nothing more they can do.
I've changed the DNS to Google servers on my phone, that didn't fix it.
Last resort is to factory reset my devices I guess

It isn't to do with Sky's default router security settings is it? Think its called Sky Shield and it might be enabled especially if you've left router on default settings.

No mate, I have the shield turned off.

I've just factory reset my tablet.
Obviously it then wanted to download a number of app updates from the Play Store.
I noticed the updates kept stopping and I had to restart the process. That's not normal is it.As though it was losing connection....there was no notification of connection dropping, the WiFi icon was still there.
It's such a random problem.
I'm still wondering if a neighbour has a device that's interfering.
Is there an app that shows activity of all radio waves in my vicinity ?

I've just realised something. My devices are dual band.Lets say I'm on 2.4,it works for a while and then stops loading sites. If I then switch to 5.0 it will work again for a while and then I have to repeat the process,ie back to 2.4 and so on.

I suppose I can live with that

Not sure if it'll help but long term may be worth thinking about, with my Sky Fibre I replaced the standard router with a BT Fibre Modem and an Asus WiFi Router, a much better more stable connection, much better WiFi range etc... :)

Ignore my previous message, lost WiFi completely again :(
Well clearly not completely, I can access this forum but not some other sites.
I'm confusing myself now lol

Try splitting the SSID's? Http://192.168.0.1 then wireless at the top. U/N admin P/W sky then untick 'Synchronise 2.4 and 5GHz settings' and apply. Then change the SSID for the 2.4 by adding '2.4' to the end (or anything really) then reconnect your devices to the new standalone 2.4 Network. Some devices will try anything to stay connected to a 5GHz network even if there's a far stronger 2,.4GHz network available with a far better signal strength.

I've done all that but I could try forgetting the 5ghz connection on my devices if you think that might make a difference.
Before all this started a couple of weeks ago my phone...and I think my tablet too....used to switch automatically between the 2 frequencies and it never caused an issue.I don't think it does that now

That's what they're supposed to do, yes but I still think some devices, and Apple ones seem to be the worst, will continue to use 5GHz even when the signal strength is low.

Well,I've just been chatting to 3 on another subject entirely but it seems they automatically put adult restrictions on your account and you have to ask to have them removed.Seeing as I've been with 3 since last year and this problem has only materialised recently I wonder if they changed my settings and didn't tell me.
If this is the cause I am surprised because one of the sites I couldn't load was my local newspaper and another was Pistonheads.com.
Not exactly adult websites are they lol
It will take 24 hours to take effect so I'll have to wait and see if it is indeed the cause

I'm still having this issue.
I have just connected a Linux based pc via wifi,my phone (android 7) and my tablet (android 6) all at the same time and tried to access the same sites as I mentioned before,Pistonheads and my local newspaper all via the same browser (opera)
The sites worked perfectly on the pc but not on either android device.I then switched wifi off on the phone and the site instantly displayed.
Confused :(
