My friend is looking for a decent budget 2.1 or 5.1 wireless speaker package to hook up in his study - his budget is £50 which I fear is rather low.

This is not my field of expertise but could this be done and any recommendations or things to look for?

Many thanks

It depends what you mean by "wireless". Do you mean speakers that can receive a wireless signal from a smartphone, or laptop, etc?

It's not really possible with £50. That will just about buy some half decent wired 2.1 speakers. There are Creative Inspire S2's, which are about £80 odd. There are also some Microlab FC362W's for about £85, that can receive wireless connection. I think that's only from a bundled USB stick though, so it depends what he wants them to receive a signal from.

ah sorry I should have stipulated this

they will be connected to his pc - he doesn't want speakers wires all over the place so the speakers themselves need to be wireless (i.e. not receive from an iphone wirelessly transmitted)

Ah I get you. I'm afraid he's out of luck. The choice of 2.1 speakers with wireless satellites is even less. I would expect if there were any, they would cost more than £50-£80.

The speakers would not be totally wireless though. All speakers require power, so any wireless satellites would have to be connected to the mains, or have battery power.
