There has been some mutterings within the road cycling essentials thread about this ride and it's a week away until you can sign up but..

Who here is thinking of doing this.
Which route are you thinking of.

Corto -37km (23 miles) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=210588971027113843278.0004acd418986ad52328d&msa=0&source=embed
Medio Fondo -125km (78 miles) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ms...,-3.683167&spn=0.462522,1.352692&source=embed
Gran Fondo -206km (128 miles) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ms...,-3.701019&spn=0.461757,1.352692&source=embed

May be we could plan some sessions over the coming months and do OcUK team training days over a couple of the intended routes?

As much as I'd love to do the Gran Fondo, I think it would actually kill me and the fact I could pee further than the Corto, I guess I'm going to play sensible and sign up for the Medio Fondo..

I'm currently in the "all the gear, but no idea" category but I have 6 months to train and a willingness to learn. :D

Who's in?

I did the Gran Fondo last year (course was slightly different) and its not as difficult as you think. If you can get a century in between now and March then you are laughing.

Thinking about it this year, just waiting to hear back from a mate.

Seriously, if you are going to the effort of going to Wales you may as well conquer the place rather than go for half measures. It's all about the will rather than the skill.

I could be up for this... long way to go but it's a long way off so loads of time to plan. My mates seem to be abandoning cycling so I sort of feel like I should enter some stuff to help me keep my enthusiasm.

The will maybe there but being my first ever foray into competitive cycling I thought I'd ease myself into it with the "half measure" route. :D

Do places for these rides "sell out" quickly as I was thinking if the training was going well over the next 4-5 months and I was putting in good mileage (100) with hills I could change to the Gran Fondo?
Mate of mine also seems to be up for the Medio. :-/ and he would be / is my training partner anyway.

The whole ride sold out all 4,000 places last year in 36 hours.

I had only just started club cycling last year when I signed up and I used it as a goal to get me to train. You can sign up for the Gran Fondo and then change your mind on the day.
