Found this on Yahoo news today

"Apparently, the Nintendo Wii 2 will be Blu-ray-enabled with a quad-core processor. Plus - and this is the weirdest bit - it will have a projection unit in-built; it will be able to project its, presumably, high definition graphics onto a wall without the need for a separate device.

Admittedly, having played Wii games in 70-inches and above at demo events, it's great fun, but how many people will have a spare white wall handy for just such an occasion? And surely an LED lamp will bump up the price of the console enough to prevent those who would never use the feature from considering it.

That said, games console, Blu-ray player and in-built projection are compelling assets for those thinking of setting up their first home cinema."

They say Nintendo may announce the Wii 2 at E3.

I seriously doubt this. Nintendo wants broad accessibility and this includes in terms of hardware and affordability. Quad core processors and a built-in projector sounds like complete nonsense.

There's nothing to stop the Wii 2 having a quad-core CPU. By next year, phones will have quad-core processors in them!

I think that's a good idea actually. Consoles are cheap as it is but imagine being able to watch it on an 80inch screen without the need for a TV

Wii 2 will be a hidef version of Wii. With discrete surround sound. More memory/internal space. Maybe '128bit' processor. Hopefully MUCH better online gaming/networking facility. And hopefully some media playback controls built right it, some of the homebrew stuff is seriously awesome for media plack and streaming. And hopefully they can maintain backwards compatibilty with both GC and Wii games. That would be smooth.

Basically think of N64 -> GC. and GC->Wii. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the next iteration. of Wii->Wii2

As for a built in projector. Lol. Most hd projectors at the moment are like twice the size of the wii as it is, there;s no way they can fit that into a new wii. If anything Wii will be slimmer, and smaller.

I can see the Wii2 only being as powerful as a PS3 etc. However, the "want factor" is the projector... not many people have them because they are far too expensive. I can also see Wii2 being 3d cinama style!

I would be surprised if they still called it Wii 2, since the term Wii came about as a result of Nintendos "ingenious" play on terminology of Wireless and the 2 'i's represening multiplayer (i.e. two people).
But if they do keep the Wiimotes/nunchucks then I suppose it makes sense.

Whether it is ludicrous or genuis, if this does turn out to be true, you have to at least hand it to Nintendo for trying to be creative with this so called "projector" concept.

Roll on E3!

Blu-ray-enabled, might help curb piracy on the system, so not out of the question.

Quad-core processor, well they have been about for a while so they should be cheap enough now, so once again not out of the question.

Projection unit in-built, no just no

Yea Nintendo will focus E3 on the 3DS and the 3DS will be the focus when it come to the holiday season, Nintendo next console will not hit the market until 2012

Funny thing is Nintendo don't have to focus on the 3ds much at all - a bit of advertising so people know its about is all thats needed as it will still sell by the bucketload.

Nintendo already said at GDC last week that they are only focusing on the 3DS and another Wii console is not in the works.

Not just that. We know that as an example Skyward Sword isn't going to be out until after e3 this year. You can imagine it's a game that Nindy is going to want to sell well on the Wii.

Would you want to push a big game on your old console at the same time as building hype for your new one? Not very smart from a business point of view. :(
