Wii component leads

What issues are those?

A lot of VC games just don't work with the component leads, and some more look a bit naff I believe, which is a bit poop.

I bought a 3rd party set of component leads from the highstreet and wasn't impressed so I ordered the official ones off the t'internet instead. The only problem I've had with the official ones was when all of my Miis seemed to be very similar colours, but that turned out to me plugging the red lead into the wrong hole on the back of the TV :)

I found a fix for the VC games as long as they support component, which most seem to. Tried it this morning and got SMB and Sonic 2 to work, don't think Sonic 1 does though...

PAL games over Component

Initially, some PAL Virtual Console games would not display correctly on high-definition televisions when connected via the component lead. However, starting with the April 13, 2007 update of the PAL Virtual Console, certain newly added games, such as Punch-Out!!, support the "Wii Component Cable Interlace mode." This is a temporary fix to problems with various Virtual Console games being played over Component Cable on HDTVs. The mode can be enabled by accessing the operations guide of the game, and (with the Nunchuk attached) pressing the buttons Z + A + 2 simultaneously. A sound is played if the mode is enabled correctly. Several older games also have updates available to enable the feature, including Super Castlevania IV and Super Mario Bros. The mode can be disabled by using the same method, but with the button combination Z + A + 1 instead.

What's the issue with sonic one? I can't remember having problems.

Same as all the VC issues, you try to resume/reset from the 'pause' screen, and the TV just loses the signal. Press home again and it takes you back to the menu.

The Wii Shop states that Sonic doesn't work via component, it doesn't for me even using the above method anyway.

I swear I've completed sonic on my Wii without issues. I can't remember pausing the game though.

Care to expand on that? I'm just curious as I'd expect there to be next to none.
Very rarely are unofficial cables as good, certainly not with component which is an analogue signal. The higher the grade of cable, the superior quality.

In the living room downstairs there are 2x Component cables totally a value of £180. That goes some way of showing you the many levels of difference when it comes to analogue cable quality.

And you definitely used component?

Not saying your wrong, but I cant get it to work even with the trick above, and the shop states its not component compatible.

I'm not sure anymore as I gave my old wii to my brother so I can't double check. I had a component cable pretty much from launch though and never used composite since.

No matter (to me anyway), I wouldn't have played Sonic much and am more happy at getting Sonic 2 working.

I'll give it another go tonight just to make sure though.

Well the Blaze cable I got I can't see anything wrong with the picture. Unless someone lends me there official component cable and I notice a vast difference I'm happy
