I have just got a wii today and also a snakebyte component cable to go with it but i can only get a black and white image when using it although i can get colour when using the supplied cables the pic is not so good.

Anyone know why this might be? i'm running it on a Sharp 32GD9E - thanks for any help.

I only read good reviews about this cable and it cost slightly more than the official cable (that was out of stock at the time), do you really think it could just be a rubbish cable? the picture looks nice and sharp although it is black and white :( .

This is the cable

This is what i have to plug it into, i have the red and white left and right audio in and in video i have the green connector..is this right?.

No, not right!

Err... that's only a composite video input you've got! Your telly there doesn't have component inputs. :D

On your piccy:

Top Row: SVideo, L audio R audio
Bottom Row: Comp.Vid L audio R audio

That's why you are getting a b/w piccy, as Composite Video will be able to sync to the green component plug you've popped in the yellow comp video port.

To properly use the component lead, you'll have to have proper component inputs on a telly - the full set green, blue and red photo connectors, as well as audio. (It'll be extracting the intensity level and making up a b/w picture from that)

LOL thanks for that! I had a feeling it was wrong :p , so what am i best using with the wii to get a better picture? - using a sharp 32GD9E thanks.

The quality with the cable supplied is blurry and i would like a clearer pic.

Scart would be the best, I would use a scart on my TV if there was a port free for it :p

Scrap that the TV should have a component port on it somewhere.

Connector Type: 2 x HDMI ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) ¦ 1 x HD component video / RGB input ( 15 PIN HD D-Sub (HD-15) ) ¦ 1 x composite video/audio input ( RCA phono x 3 ) ¦ 1 x S-Video input ( 4 PIN mini-DIN ) ¦ 2 x SCART ( 21 PIN SCART ) ¦ Audio line-out

A quick look at the user manual tells me you should have a 3x phono plug to 15pin Dsub (VGA connector) adaptor.

Connect the component cable from the Wii to the VGA adaptor to get the best possible picture from the Wii :)
