Wii doubts

Expect a flood of very simple games with very little lastabilty.

This is my main worry about the Wii, i get the feeling that it might be a passing fad. Once the novelty has worn off on the new control system is it really going to continue to be popular.

Got a similar worry myself, and that's as you've said there are a lot of developers out there that are going to literally flood the market with nothing short of rubbish which could have an impact on the Wii.

There's only going to be so many sword fighting games, laser swords, battle swords, swords that go whoooosh, swords that go wham and swords that you can wave in the air to summon an army of ghost swords.

Whilst I'm all for development, Nintendo really must either shake off these Disney tie ins like "Poppy goes Fishing in Buttercup Park for Fluffy Flutterflies" or create a more serious division for their games for the senior gamers.

Tai Chi would be great, a more serious boxing, Grand Theft Auto where you use the Wiimote to drive the car, turn it vertically to use as a joystick in flight, swish it back and forth like a baseball bat, or hold it like a gun for, er, a gun.

There's a whole new world now waiting to be discovered in gaming, Nintendo are giving the tools but it's down to the developers to make a Venus de Milo or an Eternal Beau crockery set.

Nintendo have fairly strict standards when it comes to letting companies publish games for their consoles. Hopefully they will keep that up. But I think there would be room for short games with little lastability as long as they are considerably cheaper than a full game. Casual games are all the rage now and I'm sure Nintendo will use that to their advantage.

I don't think it's really fair to compare the Wii to the 360 and PS3. The game play will be so different, it's basically a completely different type of games machine. Nintendo have done well by avoiding the need to compete with MS and Sony.

Nintendo could kill Sony and M$crosoft with one game and one addition to the wiimote.

Jedi Knight 4, clip over light sabre handle for the wiimote.

That would sell like you would not believe.

i think it would be the fastest selling game of all time, even if it was £60 with the included attachment

It's essentially guaranteed there will be a light saber game for the wii. It's too obvious for there not to be one.

Thing is, all this tech was out years ago as novelty items (lightguns, fishing rods etc.) but they were always just that, novelty items for 1 or 2 games.

With the crazy controllers coming as standard with the Wii, developers are far more likely to make use of it and come up with innovative ideas as they know their game can be bought and played by everyone who owns a Wii, not just those who have a fishing rod or golf club addon already....

I agree with the OP totally. Few beers friends round might be fun but would anyone on here seriously play pro evo on the Wii rather than PS3 or 360.

Tbh, I've been playing pro evo for years and years, so i'm not that bothered about not playing it on the Wii. I want to play new games....

With a rumble-pack you wear over your face!!!! :D

Lol! :D

One of your mate's taking the mick out of you? Buy him a face hugging rumble pack and beat the living daylights out of him :p

Should be nintendo's new motto if they brought that out .

I gotta agree with the OP.

I played on one last month, and once the novelty of the controller had worn off, I found it more of a hinderence. It didn't really add anything to the game I was playing, but I'm sure there will be developers who can make better use of it.
