Wii GT Pro Series (screenies and steering)

It's pretty pathetic that so many people are judging the Nintendo Wii on the back of the GRAPHICS (not gameplay) of one game!

How many of you rushed out to buy Street Fighter 2 on XBLA? Who still loves Track and Field in the arcade? Who still played Super Mario World? Yes, this is 2006, graphics change but gameplay still remains the same, if this has it then it's brilliant.

Static screenshots doesn't do Wii any justice.

Exactly that what happened with DS, I thought they looked awful on screenshots until I see a live one.

Sometimes the opposite is true for pretty screenshots!

who told you it's a 'next gen' console ?

Well maybe im gettin a little confused, but it is being released and sold alongside the PS3 and XBOX360, regardless of what whether they are badging it as 'Next Gen' it will be looked at as so by the consumer market.

I was in my local town centre last weekend and a guy dressed up as darth vadar was handing out a magazine made by a large games shop, it was a special on 'Next Gen' consoles, featured in it was comparrisons, pro and cons of the 360, PS3 and the Wii

I know that people in the know will realise that gameplay is king, and that the Wii has a huge amount to offer, my point is that if a kid was to see all 3 consoles running games on a big screen, then judging by what has been shown the Wii would look woefully underpowered and not such an actractive proposition.

Just my 2 cents

Although I definately agree graphics do not make a game, I think what is annoying most people is that the graphics depicted are worse than what was achieved from the console the wii is supposed to superceed. In fact they look really quite bad in those static shots.

i actually really like the look of that game. but that steering wheel looks horrible. i'd rather waggle the Wii controller around a bit.

Good comments so far.

Let's throw in another teaser...

heres my 2 cents regarding kids and consoles:
My school age nephew and his mates ONLY want Playstations, thats the way it is, for love nor money would he listen to the pros and cons of Xbox or Gamecube, and graphics didnt even come into the equation. As far as I can tell its still the case, PS3 will sell to school kids because of the brand, him and his mates all want PS3's and theyve not even made any comparisons.
The price will be an early stumbling block, but the PS1 and 2 both took price drops, and the PS3 already has leaflets and box displays in out local toyshop.

Luckily the gaming market doesnt revolve around UK playgrounds or magazines, and all of the new consoles will sell out in either the USA or Japan on launch, so pros and cons are irrelavant at this stage, especially as nobody doing comparisons expected a games drought for the Xbox 360 not to mention graphical problems slowdown, tearing etc

Who was it who said recently that anyone who doesn't rush about to buy a Wii must have a chip on their shoulder? :p

Those racing game screenshots are worse than early PS2 games... and yes I believe there is at least one Cell racing game on the PS2 (and Xbox). None of the screenshots of any Wii game I've seen have been noticeably superior to the Xbox either, including the two posted above on this page.

Oh and that steering wheel has gimmick written all over it... it just won't work as well as a conventional wheel (or joypad for that matter), no two ways about it.

I bet it runs at 60fps! :p

That looks absolute garbage, not impressed with that at all. Yet I watched the game play movie posted and that was much better than this tat.

red steels graphics are beter than any ps2's games
For godness sake give things time, a console never shows its potnetial until at least 9 months in

To be honest, the amount of games you come across that have amazing graphics and are a complete bore to play...well, it's hard to keep count. If the Wii can bring back the fun to gaming (like the games of yester-year; and you KNOW what i mean!) then i can't blooming wait.

Reason i sold the xbox360 was due to the complete lack of anything original or games that kept me entertained for more than a couple of weeks. I think the Wii is out to break the mould....at last!

Yeah, the graphics don't look quite up to todays standards...but who cares. It's not the most important component to a game is it.
