Wii most popular on the net...

I think the trend may be because the Wii is so radically different from the other consoles currently available.

Basically the XB360 and the upcoming PS3 tout better graphics and that's about it. The Wii really contributes to the gaming world by introducing a whole new way of playing games and this seems to be what's got people excited about it.

You just wait until Microsoft release there own wiimote equivelant ;) best of both worlds then.

You can argue the PS3 and Xbox 360 are contributing just as much by pushing the technical side of the gaming world. Like it or not, as much as innovation is pushed forward, technology has to be also.

yeh its kind of a balance going on, they're all bringing so much to the industry collectively, competition is good, look at evolution

Exactly.

Working together or not, one goes hand in hand with the other.

It won't happen for many strikingly obvious reasons. A few being:

Poor support as not everyone will have one.
Admitting your opponent was better than you.
Cost of development Vs extra sales gained.

I don't think you'll see an outright remote rip-off by MS, but to say they wouldn't steal any ideas because it would be admitting defeat is a bit silly, considering how often succesful ideas in gaming (rumble, analogue buttons/sticks, all manner of gameplay and genre forms) eventually get used across the board.

A halfway house, similar to the PS3's tilt controller, could well happen, although I do agree they might wait until the next Xbox version before bothering with it, as it'll only end up as a needless peripheral otherwise, and the 'box doesn't seem to do extra stuff like that.

EDIT: Oh, and as to refer to the OP, the internet is Nintendo-biased. I know that sounds stupid, but it's true. After you browse a few games sites/forums/blogs, you get the impression that Ninty can do no wrong by most of their eyes, yet sales figures would beg to differ. If you only went on online opinions, you'd probably never have thought that the GC 'finished' third in sales for the last gen, that the PS2 stomped all over them, and that the 360 is still selling almost as well as the Wii.

I'm not saying the Wii is a bad console, but the internet isn't always that representative of reality.

Does that graph take into account whether the results are positive or negative, or is it just literally a counter of how many times it is mentioned?

If that's the case you could find a lot of the comments are from people moaning about the name or the graphics.

Is there any news on Microsoft doing this then? I just see the wii as abit of fun mainly because of the remote

I think the wii is most was popular on the net coz the majority of people couldn't get one!

Of course, and I would expect there to be a fair few of those comments, i'm on my 3rd 360!

My point was merely that stats can quite often be misleading.

It's as if some kind of victory is being claimed for the Wii when simply counting the number of comments isn't enough to make any conclusion. :)

Same here :(

This one is ok except for a worrying sound from the fans when it first boots up or shuts down.

plus of course wii is always going to be spelt wii.

It doesn't take into account people posting about the ps3 or the 360.
Exactly. I am sure this is will account for a large difference in the stats. The Wii is always refered to as such, whereas that poll is only counting times when 'xbox' + '360' is used or 'playstation' + '3'. When in reality many people will just refer to them as 360, PS3 or X360.

I was just joking, but good ideas often get copied to some degree. Other than the controller, Im not really impressed with the rest of the Wii, it seems a step backward. Having said that, if people are enjoying it, good for them :)

Good point, but they do have another chart for the term 'PS3' as well.

This kinda reminds me of Google Fight :D
Strangely enough MS wins in a googlefight;
xbox : 219,000,000
wii : 175,000,000
playstation : 150,000,000
