Wii - Peoples name impressions now..

from what i remember reading when it was first announced, apparantly only us brits associate wee (wii) to pee and everywhere else in the world it doesnt mean anythin or at least doesnt mean what we take it to mean

wii sounds just plain odd to me.

The thing I don't get is nintendo have rambled on and on about how the wii is a revolution in the way we play games yet changed the name from revolution.

Surely calling it revolution makes more sense.

I think it's all a bit stupid.

I'm playing my Wii, i've made a Wii-Mii, and i'm prancing around my room, flailing my arms about, using my WiiMote, brb, need a wee.

No, no thanks.

Bit odd when I first heard it, but couldnt care less now. Got used to it and it seems to fit well with the system.

omg its going a stupid name which is a word in japanese which im sure mean 'everyone' or something like that. But who cares, only time its annoying is when you say it to someone thats never heard of it and there reactions are funny :) 'a WII, WTF IS THAT'?! heh

with comments like that its obvious you havent seen any of the new videos and all you have seen are the stupid nintendo promo vids, because you dont have to prance around your room waving your arms about if you dont want too.. Infact you can make small movements which will make the same movement on the screen as a big movement would.

I certainly have, this is a thread to express your opinions on the name is it not?

Seems like a thread for Wii fans to bash anyone who doesn't love it.

only thing i'm kinda worried about is that you don't have to move/ control the player, just literally hit the ball. So sounds too easy ?

I was thinking this too, you never see anyone controlling the players movement. I think it is simply a 'hit the ball' game

I love the Wii, but still hate its name.

They already said that moving left and right was done for you.

but isn't 'Wii' - Urine to us Brits and no one else ?
It's a slang term meaning urine for we 'Mericans as well.

To the French it is also a homophone but for a less silly word, Oui, which means yes.

Initially I hated the name but it's grown on me. I'm not much of a gamer but my friends and I are all very psyched to play on the Wii. I think it's going to be great fun regardless of the silly name.
