Hi all well hope every one had a great chrimbo and new year I dident realy me bloody back is still crap but hey life goes on.

any who I got a Wii for me kids (and me) allso for when friends come around I got the nice new black one with one nunchuck, wiimote with motion plus and wii sports and wii sports resort well I allso got house of the dead overkill and this is the problem.

I was playing it and tbh im actualy gutted of the performance of the Wii i knew the graphics sucked befor I got it but damn it just stutters when loading constantly from the DVD it keeps pausing not much but it does put you off your flow.

I suppose what im asking is this normal or is this Wii faulty?.

cheers all

edit

allso i know the game aint wii motion plus able but i do leave the thing in the wiimote i can still play ok would this be causing it tho is it a hard rule if the game is old and dont support the thing it must be removed?.

Motion plus can be left in and that's normal for house of the dead overkill. It does tend to pause slightly when lots of new enemies get loaded.

I (well, I got one for my girlfriend) got one last week as well, the games I bought were:

Mario Galaxy
Zelda
No More Heroes
New Super Mario Bros
Wii Fit
Resident Evil

And a couple of others that I cannot remember, not seen a single problem with stutter at all.

I too am gutted that it's not at least 720p (even if they did 720p and kept the cartooney graphics)

I suppose Wii2 will take care of that!

Yeah, that's one of the Wii's weak areas. In fact, I think if the performance was similar to a 360 we'd get some better cross-platform games. I don't get why the Xbox 360 can be had for £100 now and the Wii costs more yet has much less performance. What if you could use a wiimote or similar on the 360, wouldn't that just kill off the Wii?

hi thanks for the comments i did a little looking around and yes overkill does seem to suffer with this stutter so i will check some other games out when we get em or i could check with me bros games just to make sure.

cheers all.

Well how does that compare to how yours runs? I watched about half of it and it seems fine to me. Reminds me of my old dreamcast.

Well you will be seeing these adverts on your TV soon ......

So you will soon know the answer to your question and you might well be right

I've never had any stutter problems on the Wii.

I think this is unlikely given the userbase which the Wii has generated and its ability to entertain markets that would never consider using an xbox.

Natal could be a white elephant for xbox this generation at least. Looking at the games on that demo its very Wii type games which your typical xbox player has been looking down at. Will it be able to provide the required indepth games needed to interest these gamers? Will they stand for substandard graphics in favour of motion control? Can developers afford to develop motion and HD graphics?

I suppose that is almost unintentional benifit for Wii but also led to a lot of rubbish like horse pony grooming etc!

I can show off Uncharted 2 and Assassins Creed scenery to GF and get barely a nod. SHows no interest in coop play on Gears of War but get Just Dance on the Wii....

So with Wii massivley taken the lead with motion games in the hearts of the public can Xbox get a look in and can they produce quality games with it that will interest your indepth gamer on the xbox?

The wii is a great console, I have one and love it. It's all about the wii motion controls not the graphics, although some games such as mario galaxy look quite good.

All kids games? Go away! No more heroes (soon, no more heroes 2), the metroid prime triology, and now silent hill dead memories are plenty grown up. I wouldn't really call zelda twilight princess a "kiddies game" it's actually incredible dark.

On top of all of that are all the great mario games, galaxy is one of the best of this console generation, as is smash bro's.

Add Resident Evil to that list of adult games.

Whole attraction of the Wii for me is being able to play interactively with all your mates. This xmas I played on three different machines at freinds and family. 4 player Mario Kart on a freinds projector off the wall rocks and I'm 29. :D

Totally agree.

NSMB is freaking awesome on multiplayer :D

And I agree with this!!

I had my parents playing games on Christmas day, the last game my dad played was Centipede on the Atari about 25 years ago!

I've got a 360 and a Wii. The 360 is boxed up and the Wii is used daily.

It's all about fun... New Super Mario Bros, Wii sports + resort, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart, all the Rayman Raving Rabbids games - all great fun. I've spent quite a lot on Wii VC games too - mainly SNES and N64 and they all still rock.

Got my 90 year old grandma playing Wii sports recently and she loved it. Even my girlfriends dad who is a complete technophobe enjoyed Mario Kart. :D

Ok, it's not a cheap console - but it offers a lot of fun.

Indeed, I agree with it having the mass user base already. I think my point was badly put; it is more likely a battle that will be fought in the next generation of consoles, not this one as it's way too late for that now.

Capcom and Sega has announced they're not going to be making typical games for the Wii anymore, as all their titles sold extremely little. The market is far too family-oriented now, and titles that would be right at home on the PS3 or the 360 no longer has any place on the Wii. It doesn't help that Nintendo oversaturates with their first party efforts that come out by the truckload, and their encouragement for 'shovelware' party and family games by obscure little-known third party devs;

Sega
Capcom
