Wii remote info

Hopefully they'll make something like 360 play and charge kit. Cause batteries are a pain in the ass :p especially things like this, munches through them in no time at all

According to the article you can get 30 hours of game play out of the remote, 60 if your are not using the accelerometer add-on.

Doesn’t sound to bad.

With each new piece of info I hear about the Wii and the Wiimote it just amazes me how much thought and design that Niny have put into it

the wiimote has sooooo much tech and stuff to it its brilliant

what some AA batteries? lol

Seriously though, the Wii is shaping up to be nice, hopefully they don't ruin it all with some AA batteries, but 30 hours sounds ok.

is that the rumbly thing?

The bit with the analog stick on the left.

I dont think so, the way i am reading it is that the Wii remote has 2 ways of reading the motion. Actual Wii Remote Motion tracking i.e. it reads where the thing is all the time. Or just an accelrometer, in that it only reads how fast you move the remote.
I think games will just be self configuring as to what they want to use. For example a shooter will need full motion tracking for when pointing at the screen for aiming, or maybe something like a tennis/baseball game will just want to know how hard you swing, not really where you swing or where u point the remote.

I might be wrong though, thats just how i read the article though

Yup, that's what I'd have thought, the sensor / bar detecting direction of movement etc, and the accelerometer doing what you'd think it would do, measuring acceleration in each direction.

For those wondering:

The sensor bar and infra red on the remote are for detecting where the remote is pointing and how far forward/back it is from the tv.

The accelerometers and gyroscopes are for measuring the tilt and accelerations of movements over the 6-axis.

The attachment shown in the picture (which does't use the sensor bar but does have the accelerometers and gyroscopes.... which are solid state btw. Partly why rumble wont affect them) is called the "nunchuka". It will be used a lot.

People can poke fun at it all they want (mainly nintendo haters), but that has to be the best of the current generation so far with PS3 being the worst. Hell they even changed the design of the "boomerang" when people poked so much fun at it :D.

I just hope its not too small that it doesn't fit comfortably in my hands since the controller part looks to be a tad on the thin/small side

The WII is going to be amazing TBH just for the simple fact it is somthing we have never seen b4.

I love my 360 and will love my WII next to it and the PS3 can just take the side lines IMHO

XD-3

i've always been a 'wellll i dunno'
but the more and more i think about it, the more i am considering it. It just depends how active it is infront of the TV lol

I dont think you have to wave your hands about like in all those nintendo videos, at e3 they showed you zelda and red steel being played on stage and it was more like they were moving a mouse about in mid air rather than all that crap you see in the promo videos.

What happens if you are mid game and it dies ??

I'd have thought it'd give you ample warning that the battery is low, as with most battery operated devices.

Yeah the promo stuff just to make it look exciting and stuff. If it launches with the nintendo always on network thing with the back catalogue on it, i might struggle to find myself saying no lol

Still, Wii + drunkness leads to livingroom nightmares as you and your mate swing around playing tennis - I cant wait!
