Just read an article where there having a discussion about wether or not Nintendo should drop the gamepad , and quite a lot of people agreed ?! What are these people on ? It's comfy , once I get into games I don't even realise I'm holding such a big pad it's an amazing bit of kit ! Am I on my own here or do you guys think they should drop it ?

Na, the gamepad is great, I love that i can take the gamepad up to bed and play in the mornings/night.

I would prefer it if they would make the pad screen more of an option though, e.g. Mario Kart 8, in multiplayer I'm the only one that gets a map, lol. And on Super Mario Bros U, i can't actually use the gamepad as a proper controller in multiplayer, it makes you use it as some kind of boost thing.

Yup drop it, it's probably the worst designed and most uncomfortable controller I have ever used. It also adds so much cost to the console, they could probably sell the Wii U for £129 with a pro controller if it wasn't for that thing. Maybe more people would buy it then and have the Wii U controller as an option.

I wouldn't say it's particularly uncomfortable but it's a million years behind the 360/One pad in terms of comfort from where i'm standing. Should be an optional extra, just sell the console with the pro controller on the cheap.

I personally find it comfortable and I've loved the functionality of it all. It's not gimmicky, it's just useful!.

However I must admit one annoyance is the fact I can't turn the damn screen off when I'm on Netflix

They should drop it and sell it as an optional accessory. I think it's great but if they sold the console with a pro controller for a fair whack cheaper they'd sell a lot more.

I have to admit, if it doesn't add too much to the game, I tend to you the pro controller over the gamepad. However, I wouldn't want it offered as an extra.
I know there are games that don't use the pad, but if they made it an extra, games like ZombiU that rely heavily on the pad would dry up significantly. I think the way that ZombiU utilises the pad is something else.
Developers would not want to make games that solely require an add-on peripheral - like the original Kinect or Playstation move.

The only games i don't like playing with the gamepad are the Cod games, the pro controller sorts out that little problem for me though.

Before buying it I was definitely sceptical, but after playing games that utilize it well I value it quite highly.
Having the map / inventory functions on the GamePad screen is really nice (Zelda WW, Pikmin3, ZombiU, Deus Ex, Assassin's Creed, Batman etc).

I'll use the Pro Controller for games that don't use the second screen to enhance gameplay, but otherwise I'm straight to the gamepad, I find it's more than comfortable enough too.

Off TV play is great too!.

The battery could be better but it's not much of an issue for me as I have plenty of power points nearby my seating areas so usually keep it plugged in while playing.
