Wii U gamepad...

Gamepad is great, it's like Remote Play on the PS3/4 but much better.

Except I can take my Vita anywhere. I can play games at work if I want using remote play where as you are stuck in the house using it.

Anyway, ditch the controller and lower the price. I would then consider getting one.

However, the controller is pretty what differentiates it's from the other 2 so I think they should keep it.

I find the gamepad really comfy - I use it probably 75% of the time. Of all the MK8 tourney games I've played over the last week I've not once played using the TV - I've just sat in my conservatory with the gamepad.

I want Nintendo to bring the gamepad over to their next home console - off tv play is ace.

Why are we comparing a game pad to a handheld console?

This... and all the moaning about "oh if its cheaper ill get one"

it can be found for less than £200 and worth every penny - dont by such a cheap git and buy it, so much fun to be had on the games available.

It's not about being a cheap git, it ain't cheap when you already have 3 other consoles complete with as many controllers as you need. If it was to be my only consolde I would buy it now, but it isn't, so I won't, it needs to be a little cheaper for me to justify the purchase.

Exactly, I have the PC and a PS4 for my main gaming . Both of which were substantially more than a Wii U. It's effectively about value for money and I'm not 100% convinced I'd get that with the games available at the moment. I'm not hugely into cartoony Nintendo games but I totally get why people are though so I hope nobody takes offense to that remark.

Sub £200 with a game thrown in could convince me, I used to really enjoy Metroid back in the day :)

I love the controller and have used it countless times without the tv on. Brilliant well thought out little machine.

My only issue with the gamepad is the battery, just ordered the high capcity one which gets around 7 hours per charge.

Where you order that from ??

Amazon for £24.99, they are due more
In later this week, when I ordered they only had 5 left. It's a bit expensive but worth it and I only paid £180 for my MK8 Wii U bundle so it's offset the cost a little.

still waiting for my Wii U to turn, but what little time ive spent with demo versions at game and other shops, ive had no problem with the pad. It is its USP if they took that away i could see sales plummet, and im more looking forward to see what developers can do with it

Yes and no.

Better on a game per game basis (lower latency), but the Remote play feature for the PS4 is far more versatile.

Nintendo really need to make off screen play mandatory like Sony have done (it doesn't work for all games; Lego City Undercover for example). The ability to use it over an internal network would also be cool. I can't remote play in bed as I lose connection to the Wii U which is in our lounge directly below the bedroom.

I am somewhat on the fence about the gamepad. I like the idea but the execution is sometimes poorly thought out or completely non existent.

I do agree that they should make a console bundle without the gamepad but still make every game include it somehow and remote play mandatory.

As much as I love the gamepad I do prefer to use the pro controller mostly due to the better button layout and the insane battery life it has ive done easily 30 hours on it so far and not one charge.

Menus that force you to use the gamepad are really annoying mainly the eshop.

I would love to know the price that they could retail the WII U at without the gamepad.

Can you imagine a price point of £150 with Mario Kart, or even less? They'd shift some units then!
