Wii U gamepad...

They should offer a non gamepad bundle, the right time would be when smash bros come out. Offer two pro/cube controllers and the adaptor device instead of it. Devs ain't making the most of it and 3rd parties don't want to touch it.

If possible they should see if the 3DS could work as a gamepad replacement, there's millions of owners of 3DS, that they could market the Wii U to.. Just the reverse of Sony's marketing plan where they are hoping PS4 helps sell the vita, but Nintendo has already got the install based covered on the 3DS.

I would love a reason to own a Wii U, but the current price is too expensive for it to be consider as a second system just sitting there most of the time doing nothing. The next console/handheld that comes out from Nintendo will be interesting as I think the R&D departments are working together now..

I don't think they are, but R&D is ongoing.. iGN reported that nintendo's bigwig said the two R&D departments are going to much more closely in future.

it could be something as simple and great as both home and handheld console using the same carts/media.. That will certainly speed up the release of games.

Personally I think when Nintendo do release a new console, they will stick with the gamepad idea, but it will just be improved upon I think they have hit a sweet spot with there current console line up

The actual pad is a cool piece of kit but what makes you think they will stick with it?

Seems to be a bit of a hinderence with regards to selling systems. The public seem divided on its usefulness and some people comment on not finding it comfortable.

The game pad is awesome and it was cracking watching the Canadian grand prix yesterday whilst playing mario kart on it! haha!

I find it very comfortable... the only thing that needs to be improved on is range and the battery (but you can get higher capacity batteries).

I really hope they don't drop it :( it adds so much when people come over to play games and that is what Nintendo is all about (IMO of course).

Definitely keep it, it's great. Would prefer better range though I can't even use mine in the next room not 10 feet from the Wii U :(.

Also I don't think it would discount much at all from the price, it's a low res capacitive screen and a WiDi chip basically. Considering the price MS & Sony charge for official controllers I don't see it being much more really.

I love the controller, and find it very comfortable to use, slightly confounding my initial expectations after I first saw it. I would say I find it at least as comfortable as the360 or ps3 pads I own, and certainly more comfortable than my vita (with an easy grip).
I have just completed assassin creed 3 on the up and I would say that the wii u pad massively added to the experience. You have the map constantly on the pad which means you don't need to interrupt gameplay like in every other version. You can also opt to keep all hud information on the pad, keeping the TV screen totally clean.
I think lego undercover had the best implementation that I have experienced, you take calls on the pad, and it does feel a lot better to have the sound for a call coming from the pad in your hands rather than the TV. Remote play is also a fantastic feature, it feels amazing to be able to play a massive game like assassin creed on a little "handheld" while the TV is otherwise occupied.
There are so many types of games that can benefit from having the second screen, I really hope Nintendo implement it in their next console, though I am uncertain if they will continue with it.
