Ok, I just downloaded my first VC game, Super Mario Bros on NES. It runs like an absolute dog, it's so jerky it's unplayable. It's literally about 3 fps.

What is going on? Surely it's not supposed to be like this?

Are you running it via component/on an LCD?

IIRC there was an update for SMB for this, that might be something to do with it?

Failing that I cant see why it would run badly

Mine's running at 480p on an LCD and it's fine for me.

Yep, I'm running the latest firmware.

I'm running it through composite (I know, I know, I have a component lead on the way) on a DLP.

I'm confused

the component issue is a weird one. i get rolling and picture dropouts if my wii is connect to my av amp. if i connect it directly to my tv it's fine. thats only with VC games as well

There's a 'fix' posted in that link above james. Not sure if it applies, but worth a go?

Thanks for the link, but none of those issues really apply as I'm not using component, and it's not just a small 17.5% framerate drop, which eliminates it being a 50/60hz issue.

I haven't tried a hard reset yet, I'll give it a go when I get back from work.

Thought it might be useful, purely as they're PAL issues. Yours sounds more like a hardware/download issue. Another idea would be to delete and re-download it.
