Wii zelda in some screenies it looks ok in others it looks pants, how come?

I have orderded it hope I'm not gonna be dissappointed with it !

Probably because some were taken with a wii component cable and others with Scart. From the screenies I've seen of comparisons the difference is quite big. Sharpness being the main difference.

I've completed zelda and played it using a scart cable and it's pretty blurry, but I was using a crappy old crt tele. Should still look pretty good on an lcd tv whatever cable you use.

I doubt you'll be disappointed. SOME, and I emphasise the word "SOME" of the areas in the game aren't as good as the rest of the game. My personal thought is that those parts were in development before the final Wii specs came out and to go back and 'tart them up' would have missed the launch date to coincide with the Wii.

BUT, it's an incredible game. The first 20mins will probably have you thinking "Hmmmm, bit boring", but once you receive your first task it's a smack in the face and you're off.

The horse scenes felt like I was playing something from Neverending Story, the music VERY atmospheric, characters are brilliant and once you learn what happens in the Twilight Zone it enters a totally different game.

If we don't see you for a few week, we'll know why, but you've probably purchased one of the best games EVER made.

Yeh, even though the game looked a bit rubbish on my old tele, I still enjoyed the game more then any other adventure/rpg I've ever played. I could never really get into the older zelda's, but TP sucked me right in.

Awesome game

I have ordered the component cables ( offical ones) and have a 32" samsung lcd hooked up. Some of the videos of gamelay look really nice, like I said I was shocked at some of the screenies I saw, ie in a village at start looked very poor.

thx

Whats the difference between the scart and component cable I've just brought a Wii about an hour ago and have just set up my own Mii

Got Zelda with it also how long is this game roughly?

You'll probably get the main game done in about 50 hours. The side missions will take, all in all, about 80-100 hours.

Difference between SCART and Component I 'personally' think isn't that much if you're using a big TV.

No, it will look worse on an LCD compared to a CRT.

I completed all the side quests and the main game in about 45 hours and I felt like I took it at a relaxed pace. The bigger the TV, the more noticeable the difference between Scart and component is.

Where on Earth is all this misinformation coming from?!

Two words that I don't think you've read on my post:

"Probably"

"Personally"

Let's leave it there eh.

I did read them but I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. I'm not referring to the game time, as that's obviously wildly variable. I just included it in my post to show the range of time it can take. This is not a personal attack so don't over react to it as some OcUKers like to do.

I never compared them. :p

The sharpness of an lcd would probably make jaggies look worse, but I spose it depends what TV we're talking ;)

I'll make this simple 'cos I really CBA to go into one of these mundane argumentative discussions that seem to pop up time after time again when people express their personal opinion rather than the flip-side of the coin where some people swear they know everything.

I, as well as many others who I know on this forum (here's the link http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17671835 ) are coming in at about the same time and the majority of people completing it are reporting 40 hours.

The OTHER thing the majority of those people say is that they need to go back and finish it some more. Things missing, quests avoiding, hearts not collected, etc, etc.

Here's a few more links from a simple "how long does it take to complete Zelda TP"

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070401055035AAwqAuM&show=7

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061129210744AAdyOlI

Average is coming in at 40-50 hours for the MAIN game. Now that's not ME saying that (hell, I said 50), it's a majority of people from around the world who are 'the average gamer'.

I've got a Wii. I have a monitor and a TV (21"). I also have a projector and the Wii has been with me from friends houses to work, on both cheap Matsui 21" TV's, to top of the range Sony Bravia's and £3500+ HD projectors at work. The difference, in my mind (and others) between component and SCART is NOT that different. The colours are vibrant, they appear more vivid on component, but difference in quality of the graphics themselves isn't that noticable.

Here's a great link: http://www.lawrenceingraham.com/?p=38

YES there's a difference, and I never said there wasn't, but I REALLY do not think that the difference is soooooooooo noticable that I think "OMG the component roxs!!"

This ( http://www.lawrenceingraham.com/wii/wii5.html ) in my mind is proof that the component is better, but absolutely nothing when it comes to comparing a Xbox360 or PS3 on standard TV and component/VGA settings.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to rub you the wrong way. My arguement wasn't about game time but I think we've both had our say :)

I think using the fortune teller to get the heart pieces meant I completed the games sidequests very quickly. I did all the sidequests bar getting all of the poes because I refuse to use a guide for this type of game. So I did all the donations, bugs, bottles, minigames etc.

Edit: For reference I find the component excells mostly when the game is in motion, especially slow panning movements. The comb filtering required by composite means that images in motion are very blurred until they stop, and then there is about 1/3 second delay in the image becoming sharp again. This can be most clearly seen when you move the wiimote cursor over text in the Wii menu.

Took me about 45 hours to complete the game. I've still got a lot of side quests to do (mainly the collecting bugs quest). I really liked how you can wander around and 9 times out of ten you will 'stumble' across a secret area or side quest. I really should play some of the earlier Zelda's, I did play them but never really gave them a chance.

Which one's have you played? I recommend ALttP, OoT and MM in that order. MM is great as it's a new direction and a nice change for the series.

570i

480p

so 480p is better than 570i ? I'm confused I thought higher the rez the better or am I missing something?
It's 567i. 576i will give you more detail (especially useful in the web browser) but 480p is very good for moving images. One is not better than the other overall and it's worth experimenting. My TV has a fantastic deinterlacer so I use 576i.

well after a couple hours of forcing myself to play this i am now starting to feel that "this may be something special after all " :) now I got new cables I think it looks pretty good not patch on my normal games but pretty dam good

Yeah, takes a little while to get going... but from then on it's a blast. Been playing this with my nipper and we've had a great time. He's only 9 so it's taken him longer to complete than it would just me on my own, so we're at about 80 hours, but it's been nice spending those hours with my son playing a game we both enjoy :)
