Wiimote batterys.

My brother told me the Wii remote can only take alkaline batteries, is this true? Alkaline rechargeables seem difficult to get hold of...

it works fine with my nimh recharchables, nicads would probably run out very quickly though.

I don't think you can get alkaline rechargables.
You can get some chargers that will recharge alkaline batteries, but it's risky iirc as they are not intended to be recharged and can go *pop*

I had one and it worked fine... until I left the batteries in my digital camera and I came back to it after a couple of months to find the battery slot a nice chalky white where they had vented or leaked or something.

Anyway- from my experience avoid.

I like the look of the charging station. I guess it would work like a cordless phone- leave it in the charger when its not being used to top it up.

The Nintendo website, iirc, says to use alkaline and not lithium ion, NiCad, etc... but, like Werewolf, I've been using it with rechargeable nimh batteries without any problems at all.

Nyko announced and showed off a new wii recharger at CES. It's snazzy, dock and 2 battery packs which also replace the battery cover with a ribbed rubber one for better grip.

would that perhaps be the same one I've already posted a picture of in this very same thread?

Can you get rechargers without batteries as I already have a lot of batteries.

Edit: Ideally this one: RC103153 Uniross Sprint 1H as I have 8*2500Mah, 2*2100MaH, 2*1700MaH all energizer.

Any idea why Nintendo would say that? Could it cause any long-term damage perhaps?

You'll need a set of regular batteries if you plan on syncing the remote to another wii if the batteries are attached to the flap like it shows.

can someone reccomend me a 'smart' charger in that case ??

I've got a really old one which has now got me worries as it is just timer based i believe.
