¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh hi,

I was wondering if anyone here has managed to hack a wiimote and use it to control software apps on thier PC.

If so, how hard is it to do? I'm wanting to do it mainly for MIDI stuff and control my music software. What do I need apart from the wiimote itself?

try www.wiili.org thats a source of wii mote hacks, i had it going at one point but the novelty wore off, so has the console itself now even though i still play zelda on it and fzero.

i think the windows app you need is called Glovepie and you need to download the scripts for it also.

^ I'll ignore the spam.

I didn't know they used bluetooth - I guess it makes sense, as it needs no direct line of sight like IR does.

So all the hardware I need is:

1) Bluetooth adaptor
2) Wiimote
3) PC

Nice! I'll have to have a play once I get all the parts. I saw this vid and thought it looks like a good idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt2z-0H-HK4

I also saw one of the acts using one at the bloc weekender recently, but he was using a wiimote along with his laptop, and it worked well... But he did have the wiimote covered with a pretend penis which made it all the more amusing. :D

dunno what hes doing with that wiimote there just waving it around, as iff that music wasn;t bad enough the wiimote just makes it sound worse.

i do this all the time, lets me control winamp from anywhere in the house, all you need is a bluetooth adapter, the bluesoleil bluetooth drivers (google) and a program called glovepie (also google), also a wii remote comes in handy :p

With this i have now got loads of cool stuff i can do with my wiimote on my pc, such as wii drums, wiitar, wiinamp remote, and i have even tried playing WoW with my wiimote (dont try raiding with it :p)

Try it out, it is a lot of fun

P.S is you get/write any good scripts please forward them to me

^ Sounds good... I'm gonna get the parts asap so I can have a play. I'll be sure to let you know of any cool scripts, once I find out how to use 'em. ;)

Well I wasn't too keen on the music either, I was just trying to show what can be done with a bit of experimentation. Perhaps example is better:
