I have one of those filtered faceplates, I tried moving my router into another room, to allow the router to fit into the plug, I had to use a filter to convert the socket to a n ordinary phone line, should I be using an ordinary model lead in these circumstances?

If you have a filtered faceplate fitted correctly, all of your extension wiring should be wired off it as filtered extensions. If this is the case (and it should be - that's the point of a filtered faceplate) then you'll never be able to get an ADSL signal at any other phone socket in your house.

If it is installed with all of the extensions wired up as unfiltered then it won't matter if you plug a filter in or not. With a filter, the ADSL signal goes straight through, it's the voice signal that is filtered off to the other socket.

Additionally, if all the extensions are wired to the unfiltered side you wasted your time putting a filtered faceplate on in the first place. You'll still need filters for any phones connected to the extensions, and the extension wiring will still have an effect on the ADSL.
