'Wildest' guitar hero

'Wildest' guitar heroes, never personally seen anyone else who performs as Hendrix did. Although I am surprised Angus Young isn't up there somewhere. Also would have expected Kurt Cobain to be a bit higher up than he is.

I saw Randy Rhoads play live twice and he wasn't wild however Zakk Wylde could probably take the title off ted Nugent.
I've had the pleasure of seeing Zakk Wylde play live (both BLS + for Ozzy). For all he is one hell of a guitarist, he's not exactly Wild in the 'stage performance' aspects. Apart from playing with his teeth and behind the neck, the most he seems to do is drink beer, spit beer, throw beer into crowd :D (Incidentally, he's my favourate living legend)

edit, just seen Panthros reply about Ted Nugent. He really is the epitomy of a 'the wildest guitar hero' so I'm confused why you think not. I'm sure the press labelled him the wild man of rock many decades ago.

Ok, Ive been doing some googling/youtubeing etc and I have changed my opinion....he is actually ****** in the head. Absolutely crazy :D I think he deserves to be in that list.

Glad I made my point but it all depends what the Classic Rock poll is all about.
If its a wild man on stage then yes but if its wild offstage because of drugs etc then Ted is way down the list because he's never done drugs and I'm not sure if he doesn't drink.
His drug is hunting.

Was hoping to see a youtube link of one of you guys playing guitar hero on the PS2 :D

Precisely why you should be able to hover over thread title and read the first line.

There is only one and his name is TED NUGENT. Interesting that on the Classic Rock site that out of about twenty posts about seventeen of them are about Status Quo.

Reminded by my current listening material....

Can't believe "The Beater" from The Macc Lads didn't make the list! :D

I have at least 5 live concerts of The Macc Lads on DVD and The Beater basically stands there on stage but shouts a bit of abuse now and then.
Off the stage I've sat with him at a table while he had one pint of lager in two hours and moaned that he was fed up the Macc Lads were being taken too seriously when they were just a joke band.
I was in a band called Pop-Eye And His Semen at the time and at one gig the Beater and Muttley joined us on stage for Hey Up Lets Sup and not one person in a packed rock pub had any idea who they were.

last year my mate rang up hectic House to see if he could get any material off them and Tristan (Muttley) answered the phone. He told my mate that the EU had stopped them selling Macc Lads stuff because they were no longer 'lads' :D

DAMN IT! You've just completely ruined the image for me... :( I thought they were 'for real', and actually drank ten pints o' boddies :D

I was with Muttley last year in a pub called the Nags Head in Macc (playing there next month) and he was telling me that they are in discussions to get back on the road :D
I don't think it will happen :(

Him who just stands on the stage, head down, fag in gob and just plays the guitar? - not really wild is it?
Very true, image wise however he's possibly the most recognizable to those not fully into guitar heroes, so he's doing something right.

He's also apparently a really nice guy according to my ex-photography teacher, who's wife met him in a hotel in some African country (where he was also on holiday), they got chatting and he sent a Christmas card every year to their old address and spoke to each other many years after the meeting. He said he was a true gentleman and not what you would expect.

I've heard the same about him BUT the thread is about 'The Wildest Guitar Hero' and not the 'Most instantly recognisable and nicest Guitar Hero' :)

Julian Cope, if you know anything about music you'll know about him!

He'd kill em all with his acid stained breath

Edit: I'm serious, have a google to see how MAD he was, n how COOL he is now!

Edit ii: Maybe not COOL to you, but he's my hero
