Hey,

Slightly shocked to hear that GPG (creators of Supreme Commander, Dungeon Siege, Demigod and part of the team that made Total Annihilation) had to fire all of their staff due to funding issues. Apparently a big publisher pulled the plug just as their latest game was going Beta, then MS pulled their AoE Online contract :(

However! Chris Taylor has launched a kickstarter for a project called "Wildman". If he gets funded, they are aiming to hire back a lot of the ex-GPG staff, which would be really great for them.

Honestly, I don't even know if this is my kind of game, but it would be a crying shame to see GPG die completely, so I've gone ahead and pledged :)

Cheers,

Doesn't really float my boat, would've loved a Dungeon Siege, a PROPER Dungeon Siege like the originals :)

I pledged $25 towards this. I'm not 100% sure on the game and if I will like it but I do feel for them. They have made some great games (Sup Com being a major one for me). But I posted on their kickstarter page they need to put more details about the game. Also I know its harsh but to sack a load of their staff then say well if we get funded we will hire them back is like a proper sympathy plea.

Which obviously has worked for some (like me :p ) but meh. If they put up some proper details about the game I might increase my pledge.

this

and I also take excpetion that he is using my name in vain for his new project. There is only one wildman and he lives on OCUK foums................. I feel a lawsuit coming on :D

I'm backing it, sounds like a good idea to me. and Chris Taylor can produce the goods when he gets the freedom to do so.

Would be terrible if GPG went down, have loved their games, particularly Sup Com and Sup Com2 (if I use a few Mods)

Glad that they have a number of their staff back, shows they have faith in the company.
It's just a shame that they don't seem to have pitched the game that well since many people don't seem to know what type of game it is (even some of the ones that have backed it).

Won't happen :(

Unfortunately, from what I've read on their forums, GPG had to sell the rights to both Dungeon Siege and Supreme Commander in the past - which is why they didn't make Dungeon Siege 3 apparently.

Looks like junk, and doesn't really sell it in his video.

And they want (need!) £1m. Tsk tsk.

I really don't like these 'high energy', 'what you know and love, but fresh and new' and 'for the community' videos. So false now. Just ticking off words from a list.
