Just wondering but would a wired xbox 360 pad work with the PC or would it have to say "360 pad for pc" on the box ?
Any help is appreciated :)

Will work fine, the 360 pad sold for PC is a normal 360 pad. I bought a wired one a little while ago for Skyrim on PC, fed up with batteries running out on my wireless!

Will work fine, just plug and play. Wired and wireless controllers are the same (whether for PC or Xbox360), the only difference is the wireless one for Windows comes with the receiver the PC needs.

EDIT - curses! So slow at typing someone else had already answered and been acknowledged before I'd pressed Submit! :(

your answer was better though

Its just nice to sit back and play on a big screen without being hunched over a keyboard for once ^^

Yeah I totally agree.

Skyrim works with the pad without any set up whatsoever, but I don't know about other games. Windows will automatically install the drivers when you plug the pad in, I think its just down to the games after that and how they have implemented joystick support.

Mirrors Edge, Rage, Skyrim and the batman games natively support the 360 pad, not sure about the others.

The last 'big' game that I can remember that didn't support it was Mass Effect 1. Ignore anyone who mentions drivers, plug it in and wait for for the standard Windows bubble to pop up saying hardware ready to use.

It's an essential purchase for me!

Most games I need to be sitting right in front of the monitor with the likes of BF3 and other fps but I have a twin screen setup!

The PC resides under the stairs with monitor for main use and most gaming.

The second screen is a 37" TV behind the wall used mainly for media with the better 5.1 speakers, but with a 360 wireless, I can lay back on the couch or the recliner and have a blast at Rage, DIRT 2/3, JC2, Fifa, Wings of Prey, GTA IV, Mafia 2, or whatever else works with a controller, it doesn't happen often but it's great when it does.

should have bought a Play and Charge Kit for the wireless, about £12.

Trust me, I'm a KB+M kinda guy but the 360 pad is hands down the best gamepad for PC gaming.

99% of games natively support the 360 pad which is what makes all the difference. It's so nice to simply install any modern game, pick up the pad and all the buttons are assigned perfectly.

You still need the wireless receiver for PC, and as I had to fix mine by soldering the fuse I'm not too keen on using it for prolonged periods of time.

^^ agree, xpadder is great. I think the older version doesn't work on W7 so you need to buy the new one, but works great.
