Will a freesync monitor work with a Nvidia card?

Bit of a basic question but looking at a new monitor. It used to be if you had an AMD card you needed freesync, and if you had a Nvidia card you needed G-sync.
But I think that has changed? Can I buy a freesync monitor (looking at the Gigabyte M28U) and run it with my 3080 and not get screen tearing?
