I have a PCIe 3.0 Corsair MP510 at the moment on a MSI Pro Carbon AC B450 motherboard.

Im looking to upgrade my rig, but still want to use this SSD. If I was to get an x570 board that has PCIe 4.0, will this nvme drive still work with it?

I know the speeds will still be PCIe 3.0 speeds, but just wondering if its backwards/forwards compatible.

Also by this same logic, will this nvme work on a board that comes with PCIe 2.0? I assume the answer is most likely no for this one

Yeah will work in all just fine.

As said works fine
Got 2x 960gb mp510 on x570 board

Pci~e 2.0?
Would that even have the necessary connector

Thanks both for your help in answering!

Also, I was wondering about PCIe 2.0 because if im on a PCIe 4.0 board, I may hold onto it for a while and then buy a PCIe 5.0 nvme once it gets released. So naturally im curious if i can just buy a newer nvme and place it in a older board, and just see if it will work compatibility wise
