Will an Intel Atom Dual-Core 330 CPU be quicker than an AMD Athlon 2800?

Thinking of upgrading one of my daughters PC's with an ITX system but didn't want to go down in speed on the processor.
I know it's a lot newer by at least 5 years but the 1.6ghz speed bothers me.

ion/atom only should be used if all one is doing is well office stuff and surfing the net

I've just rebuilt a P4 3.6 system for her but it would have been nice if it was a lot smaller.

it dosnt have the xp2800 but it should still give you an idea of the atom's performance.
