Will ANYONE insure a 21 year old on a TT?

They do want your business - they charge you high prices because you're young, not because they don't want to give you a good deal.

For instance I'm paying £400 on the nose pretty much for my mx5 (only group 13E) FC with all the bells and whistles. But other companies were going to charge me an exorbitant £700+. Each companies have their speciality with regards to types of cars, areas and so on, furthermore it's affected by how many claims they've had, as well as inflation costs and so on.

I'm sure he'll get insured on a 225 TT - but he'll pay a high premium, because he's young, and there's no getting round that really.

Easily insured. I just did a quote with Admiral on a '99 225, age 21 with 1 years ncb, mum as named driver, £1274 FC. bargain :p

If you can afford that car then I am sure the insurance will not be a problem, I wasnt refused insurance on my new bike anywhere but some companies quoted stupid amounts which is a suble way of saying bugger off. I darent tell you what a bike is costing me a year on insurance and only TP.

please tell, i would like ot know how much your paying compared to the cost of the bike :]

Just tried to see what else i'd get quoted on if i was 21 with same details as above.

Vauxhall VX220 2.2NA £1413
Nissan 350Z £1701
BMW E46 330Ci £1413 (same group as vx220?)
BMW E46 M3 £3669
Renault Clio V6 2002 £2377
Porsche 911 (996) Carrera £5184 (rofl that's with an estimated value of £40,000)
TVR Cebera £4189

Seems you can insure practically anything if you are willing to pay.

Shame i'm neither 21, nor wealthy :)

my mate (20 but been passed 2 years) pays 2300 tpft on a GSXR 600 K2. no one would touch him fully comp.

My mate (on the larger side of 40) got laughed at by Brokers when he tried to insure a Fireblade when he had just passed his test (he got the bike as a down-payment of some deal he was pulling). When riding a bike, it seems that insurers really want experience combined with age.

Where did you get those quotes from if you don't mind me asking? How about an evo 6-7? :)

My mate got insured on his TT 225 Quattro when he was 21 through Tesco....my other mate has just got insured on an STI Type R Import and he's only just turned 23...no tracker fitted either

Ok, the bike was £2200, and the insurance is £997 TP.

What I did though was upgrade the 125's insurance for 6 months (the rest of the policy) which cost me £130 which i didnt think was too bad.

Hopefully come June (renewal) I will have my first years NCB, not sure what savings that will give me though :(

she wont be the main driver on it and he is probably using his 5+ years NCB

Chap in max power (used to read it years ago :o ) was insuring a new boxter at 18 for about 11K so its possible, just expensive.

Anyone can insure anything as long as they have the cash, just ring round.
