OK today the Holiday Inn, Windsor managed to lose the faceplate to my Sony Head Unit (Long story!!) and have offered to pay me the cash so I can get a new one. I never really liked the Sony anyway ('twas a present) and am looking for something better that might work with my Sony 10 disc changer. This looks like the best to me:

Going in a Seat Leon. I have perhaps £250 to spend max, and would love one with bluetooth compatibility. Will I find anything better for the money?

Thanks

How about one like this...

I've got a P55BT, it's great. The Bluetooth functionality works really well once setup (initial transfer of contacts was a pain as I had to do each one individually - I believe some phones can transfer the whole lot in one go). I think it's a good buy for the money. One nice little feature is that the colour of the display and buttons can be changed so it fits in with your dash, some of the other head units I looked at seemed to look pretty garish.

I went for the iPod adaptor too, it functions similar to the actual iPod in that you can browse by album, artist, song etc however it can be a bit on the slow side when scrolling through a large list of albums.

I had one of those jvc units it was terrible, taken ages in between songs and and changing folders on the dvd, found the small screen slightly pointless for dvds aswell the faceplate is also not a flip one so you have to take it off. over all it felt cheap and slow as its nasty plastic. IMO go for the other unit.

please be aware this is my opionion and there may have been software revisions since i had mine.

Is it possible to link a Sony changer to a Pioneer HU?

No, you need an IP-Bus compatible changer. However, my 6-disc changer cost me £15 off ebay and now sits where the standard SEAT changer used to sit (in the glovebox).

I'd just rid yourself of the sony changer in all honesty, you don't want to be limited to sony HU's :(

Because unless the MP3 is ripped in at *least* 192kbs it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the original source CD? :)

you can fit a lot of mp3s onto a DVD regardless of quality. Even at 320 you could still fit 30+ albums on one disc.

Because the OP asked for one that would work with his existing changer?
Ok, fair enough.

My point is why limit yourself to old technology just because half of it is there when you can buy yourself something capable of reading DVD mp3 disks for less than a HU compatible with the cd multichanger unit.

Because its easier to grab the few CDs I want and stick them in the changer than waste time arsing around with ripping and encoding discs to a writable CD :)

Does the pioneer fit exactly in the glovebox or does it 'rattle around' in the gap?

I guess it depends on your personal style. I dont keep any CD's any more. My entire music collections is stored digitally, so for me DVD mp3 capability is an awsome feature.

If you still keep CD's then a multichanger is a big advantage.
