Hi all,

I currently have an Asrock dual 939 series motherboard, and Im using onboard sound, it doesn't seem that bad but not that great either, I may invest in an X-Fi xtreme music card from OCUK and I wanted to know if you think it will boost my sound so what?
I'm for the best part a gamer, BF2, CSS and COD2 and I have a set of Medusa 5.1's from OCUK, I do listen to music at times too!! Will it reduce laod to me processor too? (spec in sig)...!

Any thoughts/comments would be a help!!

you will deffinitely hear a difference. When i played bf2 with ultra high sound i was amazed. SO clear. Music and everything sounds punchier and nicer. You wont regret it
 
Anyone using the Beta drivers off of creative site for there x-fi xtreme sounds cards ? Or is it best to stick with 39.4mb standard drivers from same site???



Any advice would be great!!
 
Well since I have the same board I am curious as well, anyway does using the on board sound drain the system? would a sound card free up some more power for gaming?
 
I would think it drags it down in some way, not a great deal I would hope, but to be honest I just miss having decent sound whilst gaming!!

So I have decided to put my hand in my pocket and purchase the xtreme, I can report back my findings when I get it delivered & installed.
 
with my creative 5.1 megaworks, and my x-fi i cant even put the volume past 38 % on some songs its that loud. With 50 % bass the vibrations go around the house. The neighbours have complained of the noise lol, and its a detatched house. Ah well :P
 
Ah well turn it up and you won't hear them knocking :P


My fiancé warned me last night that if I keep having my medusa headset turned up too high me ears will start bleeding??? Means I won't have to listen to my 2 week old baby boy cry though....lol (joke, I love him really..)

Hope my card is there when I get home, then I can get straight onto BF2, COD2 and CSS and ............ave it!!

You'll definately notice a difference, Asrock reckon my onboard audio is "High Definition", but it's sounds carp compared to my Xfi.
 
High deff it certainly is not......


All these posative comments are making the wait that much harder to bare.............lol......

Will be worth it in the end I suspect!
