Will i like Fallout 3?

Short definitely isn't a word I'd use to describe FO3:GOTY, it's far longer than the vast majority of FPS.

To the OP, I'm a bit of a FPS/racing junkie also but I really enjoyed FO3, it lives up the billing of Game Of The Year for me.

I really liked it, with the DLC must have pumped at least 60 hours into. I loved the atmosphere of the game, the sense of isolation that you got when you went exploring.

One of my favourite points in any game for me was simply walking to the stop of a hill when there was a sunset, listening to the wind blowing around me and being able to see for miles and miles. :D

I bought it yesturday about 2pm, played for about 5hours and was almost done. quite short tbh

Lol, what a load of rubbish. A new player does not 'nearly finish' the main storyline in 5 hours (besides, how would you know when you don't have a clue what the main storyline is?) even if he goes directly for every primary quest and ignores the other 99% of the game.

The only real reason to progress the main storyline is that the Enclave will also start appearing later into it.

If you use FWE mod it defaults to make it so that gun skills only increase accuracy of your weapons. The vanilla game splits it so 50% increases accuracy 50% damage. This means at level 100 of a specific gun skill your weapon will be twice as accurate out of vats compared to vanilla and it makes sniping and alike very fun from great distances where as before I had found that despite having a scope my gun was still very inaccurate. So if you wanted it to keep a FPS person happy I would consider it.

Although there is a lot bundled in with FWE, though almost all of it can be turned back to vanilla settings. It appears one of the more annoying changes is to have made companions not have unlimited ammo on their default weapon and to not regenerate health after a battle. Either that or my game is just buggered.

Which brings me onto my next point, the game is not stable. Even without modding the game suffered just like oblivion from instability issues. It's well documented and there are loads of "cures" online but they all seem specific to a few people and oftern don't seem to fix it. Only recently I had to use the console to teleporting my self to a npc in the main quest because the entire south west part of the map caused instant crashs. After teleporting there it seems to have possibly been fixed. This could be due to the mods or just another random screw up.

I am however very much enjoying the game with MMM and FWE mod's installed too. The vanilla game I found a bit lacking. After this im going on to oblivion as well, i've never got very far into that game as i've always found it lacking even with mods but im going to give MMM for oblivion a try.

Thats impossible. You'd get utterly destroyed being that lower level in some places surely? Though i've not played the vanilla too far down the main story and my mods make the game a lot harder. Not to menchen that I think there must be 5 hours of just talking and walking at least in the main quest let alone actually killing things etc.

:EDIT:

Just relised I quoted the wrong person. O well, sure people can work it out.

I really enjoyed it but it did take a few hours to get going. Not sure how it could be over in 5 hours though. The DLC stuff is a bit hit and miss, some of it good some of it a bit pants.

VATS I could not get on with and never really used it.

Purchased Oblivion GOTY edition couple months back. Loved it way more than Fo3 (i purchased all the DLC's apart from alien ship). The landscape was way too dull...nothing for miles, while Oblivion had this epic feel...ala LOTR.

Il admit the music in Oblivion makes 2/3rd of the atmosphere but then it did win a BAFTA award in the Game Music Category

If you prefer multiplayer then no single player game is ever going to be good enough.

Thanks for all the replys folks, the above quote hits it on the head i think for me, i play online all the time, as much for the social aspect, i have some good m8's all over the place and are always in Teamspeak having a laugh and a chat, playing online games for me is as sociable as going down the pub, i wouldn't have any of that with Fallout 3 so have decided to give it a miss, i appreciate all the reply's though.

I only got this game because it was going cheap, (on its release week) I didn't install for a month and was fairly bored in the vault, but the game changed for me when I stepped out into the vast dead wasteland, that first view of the world was amazing.
Enjoyed the game immensely but its not an FPS but its not really an RPG either, a good mix of the two.

When i first got this game i played it for about 2 hours and decided that it wasn't for me, so got rid of it, but when GOTY came out with all the mods i thought i would give it another go and i'm glad i did.

It's a great game with plenty to do.

I've been playing it for a few days and am really enjoying it. Is there anyway to slow down the load screens, they've gone before I've had chance to read the tips in the bottom corner of the screen.
