I currently have a X-Pro Super Silent 460W.

It Powers:

AMD 64 3000+
Mobo
Leadtek 7900GS GFX
6 x 80MM fans
2 x SCSI 10k HD's
4 x SATA HD's
1 X IDE HD
1 x DVD Drive
4 x HD Enclosures with fans & display
1 x 4 Port PCI FireWire card
SCSI Card

It seems to be going ok but I want to swap the CPU for a Q6600 & new mobo.

Is the draw of the AMD CPU significatly more to need a new PSU would you say?

Depends if you plan on updating more in the future....it would make sence to get a bigger one with all those drives you have.
your power supply might be ok but prepare for a new one if nessesary, as i think you will be starting to reach its limits and you may need a better choice of cable attachments.

its better to have a bit of head room with PSU's because they will run better if they are not being pushed to hard, and you have extra power if you get a better graphics card.

i think the 7900gs is PCI-e, so you will be keeping that card?

you will probably want new RAM also.

I'd swap the X-Pro for a newer PSU for two reasons, 1) that PSUs get less efficient with age and 2) that it doesn't have PCI-E connections. That said it is a great PSU and would probably cope regardless.

mattfez, your signature is way too big, you have 4 lines of ordinary text to play with as it says in the FAQ. :)

Well, I dont see any harm in running with it and seeing how it copes, if you have any issues then have some cash on standby 'cos theres nothing worse than an a pooter that does'nt poot lol

Thanks for the info, pit does have PCI-E though! Have a PCI-e 7900GS in there now!

My mistake but it didn't have PCI-E connections when the X-Pros were first released, I picked up a 400w version almost as soon as they were brought to market. Maybe they did on later versions or are you perhaps using an adapter?

And cheers for editing mattfez. :)
