the dirty souf
After being without a gaming/media pc for a few months now, (I gave my last one to my auntie) I'm finally getting round to putting a new system together. With not much cash to spare however, I'm going to have to reuse some components I have lying around (ram, hdd, dvd).
My current thoughts are a shuttle SN25P with a Pentium 4 3.4GHz 2MB cache cpu.
I have two 1GB Kingston ddr400 sticks, a Seagate 320GB pata drive and a Liteon DVDRW to go into it plus a fairly decent 256MB Nvidea PCIe card (not sure of the model number off hand)
Later on I'll probably stick a large SATA HDD as well, and maybe change the gfx for a 512MB model.
The question is, will this machine be adequate to play games like The Godfather and Fear? The parts I intend to buy should cost less than £170 in total, so it's quite a cost effective stop gap measure until I save enough for a higher powered PC. It's only going to be worthwhile though, if the system has enough oomf to work half decent.
So what do you think, is it worth putting this rig together or should I just wait and get something better later?
