Hi all,

A friend of mine has asked me to see whether or not his PSU will be enough for the following upgrade:

Intel E8200 Penryn
2 GB DDR 2
ASUS P5K PRO
8800GT
2 HDD's
DVD Writer

The PSU is a 700W EZCool Infinity pPFC Low Noise ATX v2.2 Dual +12v Rails EPS.

I've said I don't think it will be enough.

Any thoughs?

Thansk,

RoEy

I don't know that brand PSU, but 700w is overkill for that. I have 700W and would be able to run 2x8800GTX in SLI, if I so choose.

You would be fine with a 520W Corsair PSU.

He's got more than enough Watts, but what matters is the rest of the specs...

30A (can be total combined) on the +12V Rail is enough :)

When I said I don't think it will be enough I meant in terms of quality and cleaness of power. He's going to keep it and see how it performs. Thanks for responses.

As well as about 4 optical drives, an overclocked cpu, 5 HDDs, a sound card etc. lol.

As said, 700W is more than enough, but I've never heard of that brand either.

Yeah I haven’t heard of the brand too, which led me to believe it would be better to buy a more expensive PSU in terms of reliability. I know 700watts is plenty but its the actual quality of the PSU I was concerned about.
