Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone could advise if my PC specifications will run the following two games which have these requirements?

Current PC components: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6 core AM4 Processor; GTX 1050 Ti graphics card

Game requirements for Game 1:
Minimum: Core i5-4460 3.2GHz/FX-8320; GeForce GTX 650 2GB/Radeon HD 5850 2048 MB
Recommended: Core i7-4790 4-Core 3.6GHz/FX-9590; GeForce GTX 760/Radeon R9 280

Game requirements for Game 2:
Minimum: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 940; GeForce GTX 660/Radeon HD 7870
Recommended: Intel Core i7 4790 4GHz; GeForce GTX 1070/AMD GPU Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB

Game 1: you are above the recommended specs so you can run this no problem.

Game 2, you are below the recommended specs where your GPU is concerned, but above minimum specs, so with a few tweaks to graphics settings also shouldnt be a problem.

Thank you. How do I know which settings to tweak?

In the game just try them out, try high, if its laggy, set to medium, and then you can tweak from there, I dont really know what games they are so I cant comment any further really, but you know, water reflections, terrain details etc, all adds up.

I actually don't have either game yet, I'm trying to decide which one to get. The games are Metal Gear Solid V and Hitman 2...

If you're interested in running games on lower spec hardware you should follow LowSpecGamer on youtube. He tweaks settings to get modern games running on very old hardware.

If you google Low Spec Gamer Metal Gear 5 you can see him running MSG5 on a the following hardware;

PU: Dual-core 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5-3317U
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
VIDEO: Intel HD Graphics 4000

I'm not suggesting going to these extremes, but it's interesting to see whats possible....

Thank you. One more question, would my specs be enough for this game:

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.

Minimum: Intel i3 2nd-Generation 2.5GHz, AMD Quad-Core 2.5GHz. Nvidia GT640, AMD Radeon HD7750, 1GB Vram.
Recommended: Intel i3 4th-Generation 3.5GHz, AMD Quad-Core 3.9GHz. Nvidia GTX 570, AMD Radeon HD 6950, 2GB Vram.

Yeah that's lower than both the others...

It depends what resolution you're playing at obviously, but practically any game will be playable on your system. You have a pretty new 6-core CPU and a decent graphics card. You should have no problem running 720p @ high settings, 1080p @ med should be alright.

Hi guys, would my PC be able to run a game with these specs?

Minimum: Intel CPU Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent, 4 GB RAM, and AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB)

Recommended: Intel CPU Core i7-3770 or AMD equivalent, 8 GB RAM, and Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 970 / AMD GPU Radeon RX 480.

I just saw this. How do you know if you are using 720p or 1080p on a monitor?

When you’re in Windows right click anywhere on the desktop and select ‘display settings’ it will tell you the resolution (you can also search for ‘display settings’ in the taskbar). For example, mine is 3840 x 2160 (which is 4K).

If you can find the model number of your monitor you could also Google the maximum resolution in the unlikely event you’re running Windows in a lower resolution.

Thanks. My display settings says 1920 x 1080 (Recommended) under "Display resolution". When I click the drop down menu I don't see anything with 720p:
1768 x 992
1680 x 1050
1600 x 1024
1600 x 900
1440 x 900
1366 x 768
1360 x 768
1280 x 1024

I googled the monitor and it says "True Resolution : 1920x1080". Does this mean 720p is not possible? I presume 1920 x 1080 is less than 4k since they are lower than the numbers you have?

@je11693 so your monitor is 1080. You can certainly select 720 in the game options. There shouldn’t be any need to do that if the game is running ok at 1080.

Yes, 1080 is lower than 4K. Don’t worry about 4K, it’s definitely not necessary to run at that resolution.

Ok thank you, so you can still run a game at 720p on a 1080p monitor? When you say "if the game is running ok", do you mean just that is running smoothly with no glitches? (I hear people talk about FPS but I'm not sure how to tell what FPS a game is running at)

Yes, you can run a game at 720 on a 1080 monitor.

Exactly, no glitches. If you want to see FPS you can download the Nvidia Frame View app (it’s free) and it will show you what FPS you are getting. Most people generally aim for 60+ FPS but if you’re happy with how the game runs I wouldn’t get too hung up on it.

What does a lower FPS look like? I have seen videos where people will say "you can see a small drop in my FPS", but I don't notice anything...

It’s mostly to do with smooth movements which is mainly an issue in sports games and shooters like Call of Duty. You probably won’t notice the difference until you experience a higher FPS.

If you use a lower resolution for better performance it's best to choose something that keeps the same aspect ratio, otherwise it can look pretty bad. For your screen I think that would be 1600 x 900 or 1366 x 768, though you'll probably find that 1080p @ med looks better than say... 1366 x 768 @ high. It does depend on the screen, but personally I've always hated non-native resolution even if my graphics card struggled.

An alternative is to play the game in a window, I do that sometimes if I have to.

How do you play a game in a window? At the moment, whenever I double click the desktop icon for a game, it just opens up and takes up the whole screen, so I presume this is not being played in a window?

Ah ok, so keeping it at 1080p (my current settings) but toggling the (in-game?) settings would be better - what would I look out for when toggling between medium/high/ultra to know if it is affecting performance? Is it just the FPS or something else also? How do I see what FPS I am achieving in the game?
