Well I am so tempted to buy 2 evga hybrid 980 ti's"when they are in stock ofc "

The thing that has me holding that credit card in the wallet atm is pascal. If it lands in march to may 2016 will it need a new mb +cpu+ram?

At the min I have a 4770k oc'd to 4.6 with 8 gig of ddr3 ram. I love my ROG 1440p monitor and I have no intention of swapping it untill there is a 4k 144 version or higher hz.

If pascal needs a new mb+cpu +cpu cooler .The question for me that is driving me nuts atm is do I keep all I have and swap the sli 980 kaf 2 s for the evga hybrid 980 gtx ti in sli and then wait 18 months to upgrade most of my system or do I hold for pascal ??!

For those that might be wondering why I am thinking of switching its beacuse my 2 980's on air are running 85+63 degrees and I am just not happy with that heat also thats in a room with 15-16 degrees temp, when summer appears I am sure it will rise. Also thats in games with a few options turned down a few bars.

Any thought would be greatly appreciated :)

As above, cpu performance hasnt really improved an awful lot from sandybridge. 10% at best from one generation to the next.

Well i have read of a few saying HBM would need PCIE4 to take full advantage of it, but tbh i think that's likely rubbish because i don't think PCIE2 has even been maxed yet? Let alone PCIE3.

New CPU's won't help noticably in games, GPU makes the biggest difference these days.

Yea PCI 3.0 should be fine i see another thread also where people ask if HBM is smoother. To both i would give a resounding no... I have a 4770K and it will be here in three years time powering Pascal i guess?

We are moving to 4K now so we will be GPU limited in the future with DX12/4K. This is where HBM will shine bigger textures and intensive on streaming. Imagine 4K textures on big large worlds etc and grass and hair all taxing GDDR5 this is why we will see a change. Heck the only time CPU matters imo is on 120hz displays where you want to be holding 120 all the time.

CPU = Minimum fps mostly
GPU = AVG/MAX fps mostly

Have you considered this then?
YOUR BASKET
1 x NZXT KRAKEN G10 GPU Cooling Adapter - White £19.99
Total : £25.97 (includes shipping : £4.98 Ex.VAT).

It allows you to use a CPU AIO cooler on the GPU, so no need to do a custom watercooling loop.

Yhea I looked at the G10 but when I asked OC and KAF support I was told that they wont fit my 980's cause the pcb is not the reference design :(

Well it turns out I got some false information! I got the g10 and stuck it on the top gpu and omg the difference. Before gpu 1 hit 82 degrees and gpu 64 in the witcher 3 at 1455 clock speed.

With the g10 on gpu 1 at 5016 I am getting 47 degrees and gpu at 71 ! The fps is amazing its gone up from 15 Fps on the mins!

So no 980 ti for me . I am going to tinker and see what I can push these macs untill pascal appears:D
