Will Playstation VR kill PC VR Games?

Even with the new PS4 coming out sometime soon it will struggle to keep up with the graphic power required for VR, we may have have dual screen 4K headsets before the end of next year (pure speculation) and I think there business plan is 4k gaming with VR tagged onto the side. Look at how quickly we have moved from the original DK1 to where we are now, consoles will struggle to keep up with this pace.

Pretty doubtful, even with the new cards its still a fairly small number of people who can have a game render on a single screen at 4k, you are in a little enthusiast bubble here where people appear to be buying 1080s left right and center. Even by the end of next year its still only going to be those with SLi 1080s or better that are able to run 4K twice at 90hz for your mythical HMD, which HMD manufacturer is going to produce a product nobody can run?

Then if you do get the headset, what content are you going to run? If no one has capable systems who in their right mind is going to produce games with textures that high res to make a difference.

People need to take their head out of the clouds on this 4K business, most AAA developers will likely dip their toes in the water with PSVR or be waiting for it before they start writing games and the focus isnt going to be the 0.001% enthusiast crowd, its going to be the man on the street that can afford it. I dont think its realistic to expect 4K screens until gen3/4. In between we will have optimisations, ergonomics, improved optics. All things that will make a difference without drastically increasing the system requirements or they will just price themselves out of the market.

Dont forget the oculus has been what 4 years coming? it was announced in 2012 i think
