Will the PS4/XB1 finally see MMOs done properly on consoles?

One of the very few reasons why I still own a gaming PC is because I love MMOs more than any other genre. I've been so disappointed over the past few years because nobody at Sony or Microsoft seems to have taken MMOs on consoles seriously. Obviously, there are obstacles to overcome in terms of limited buttons and lack of keyboard but surely it can be done better than it has been?

With the announcement of The Elder Scrolls online, a new Final Fantasy online and Planetside 2 all coming to the next gen consoles, along with 64 player Battlefield 4, do you think this upcoming generation will finally bring the MMO to consoles?

I think we'll see more persistent worlds yes, but I don't think they'll be traditional subscription driven MMO's.

I'm looking forward to both Destiny and The Crew, will be interesting to see how 'massive' the multiplayer on them is.

Until they offer full mkb support - no. What sets MMOs apart from other online RPGs is the community, and you can't get that without the ease of communication provided by the keyboard.

You can easily do that with voice comms. Not to mention you can already use a keyboard to type in games if you wish.

Picture hack and slash adventure gameplay on a server with quests and end-game. That's how to make a console MMORPG. Stick a keyboard in to chat with in town and auctions, bingo. Use the headset to switch chat streams for Party, Guild, Local etc so you haven't got to hear every body scream and shout. Also have it designed in such as way so you can only hear within a radius if you are in local chat..Much much better than TPS and FPS MMO ideas for consoles.

PS3 already offers keyboard support, and somebody told me you can use a mouse too, but not 100% sure on that.

XB1 will be proper MMO, I mean it has the power of the cloud.

Obvious troll is obvious :p

Haven't been a big MMO'er since I quit WoW many moons ago, but I would love to see an MMO done properly on a console... tbh I am not sure why WoW was note ported! I mean, surely millions of well-regulated identical hardware clients is a dream install base for an MMO developer?!
