hiya
i currently have the following
[email protected] GHz
Abit AW9D-MAX motherboard
HIS ICEQ3 X1900XT
1x17" TFT and 1x17"CRT both running at 1280X1024

i am planning to get a Q6600 (will have to flash bios :D ) along with some new monitors (24")

the question is will my graphic card be able to cope with the demand of the monitors or will i need a new graphics card

ps i use my pc for DVDs mostly but some gaming
pss which monitor do you recommend because i was thinking of the dell range and is wide screen or not wide screen better when dual screening?

i might be able to but i was hoping to wait for the next range of graphics cards and the games i do play arnt very new anyway so dont know if a new graphics card is worth the extra cost. (if the X1900XT will suffer on with DVDs then i guess i would have no choice but otherwise i guess i wait) (will my MB support the 8800gts) and are they longer then the X1900XT

The X1900XT will cope fine on the 1280x1024.

Depending on your games, it might even cope with the 24" 1920x1200 resolution as well.

I know CSS can run perfectly fine at that resolution, as well as Battlefield 2. Any more modern games it will definately struggle.

the games i play (often) are about 5 years old or flash games  and i dont really need graphics maxed out! my main concern is can i enjoy watching DVDs without lag and will 2*24" cause lag when doign things like watching DVDs and web browsign at the same time

If that's the case, the X1900XT will do just fine :)

You can always upgrade further down the line anyway if it becomes a problem.

The x1900xt will have no problem playing dvds at any resolution, it just won't be able to play high end games accross both monitors at once. However dual monitors are crap for games, with fps the crosshair is screwed, and almost every game will be stretched badly or will have black bars at the sides.

which 24" monitor do you recommend anyway (i want it to be sutible for gaming ) i was looking towards the dells and is it advisible to connect the monitors up via DVI-I or DVI-D cables or does it not make a difference
