Hi all,

My Western Digital Raptor 36gb drive seems very noisey and slower than my 120gb Maxtore drive was as my OS drive, It has warranty until 2009, do you think WD would send me a new drive out on an RMA?

Just don't see any performance change from my Maxtor at all really :( drive was purchased second hand so may have a fault for all I know!!

What you recon??

Well, if its still under warranty and you use their advanced RMA system (you need a CC for this, they charge the full price of a new drive to your card, and once they receive the faulty drive back they remove the charge) they should send you out a nice new one.

Ive done this twice now, and had both drives within 4 days.

Hi scott

Thanks for this mate, but say they checked the unit I sent back and said it wasn't faulty, would they then charge me for a new drive? Then ship me my original one back? Sorry just trying to get this clear in my head before I do the advanced RMA ?!?

Thanks again ;)

Have you tested the drive first with tools like HDtune etc..before going to the trouble of RMAing the drive.

If you have,,what results are you getting for the start/finish transfer speeds etc

No I haven't as yet, didn't know they even had those sort of tools?

Can you name the tools and I'll have a look tonight ;)

Well, if they found it to be not faulty not sure what they could do. I sent my drive back on the monday, and i received a new one on wednesday. I doubt in that time they would have received the drive and tested it, as u have to send to an address in Germany.

Not sure how it'd work, cant see them asking u to send the new drive back :/
