Will this increase performance by a large margin?

Hi,
I currently have an A64+ 3200, 1Gb 2x512 PC3200 Geil Value Ram and a Radeonx1800xl.
I was thinking of a small upgrade around 350 pounds as a limit.
I was thinking of an A64+ X2 4400, another pair of Geil Ram and a new faster hard drive Seagate Barracude 320GB Sata2.

While i see that this be much better that the setup i have i have doubts that my Tagan PSU will cope. It's 420W 3rd-eYe or smt like that. I had no problems with it so far.
What do u think? Will it cope.
I wanted more peformance since i am using photoshop and coreldraw a lot along with other design software. What do you guys think?
And i don't want to go to Core2Duo since that means i have to get another mobo aswell and prolly a new PSU along.

For 350 you could go conroe and have a massive boost in all those task you state.

With the money you get for the geil kit etc..this can be put towards some DDR2

6300
DS3 or 650i
Geil 6400

Your current psu will be fine.

C2D use less power than your current rig and less power than the X2's

I concur.

Hey

I will agree with that too, the C2D chips provide amazing performance and overclocking ability, for that sort of money id get an E6300 and a gigabyte board such as the DS3.

The bundle I linked to costs exactly the same as buying the three products seperately.

Nothing to prevent another 1GB kit being added later, anyway. :)

i know its not exactly the same, but I went from a 3400+ with 1gb ram to a 2.4ghz C2D and 2 gigs of ram, it feels like I went from a 100mhz P1 to this c2d lol. Its that much better

If he bought another 1Gb kit it would be 2gb but 4x512mb which isnt a good as 2x1Gb running in dual channel mode. It would be better to stretch to 2x1Gb now, or sell the 1Gb when he wants to get 2Gb

Why isn't it? I thought Conroes had no performance hit with 4 sticks? only problem is if he wanted to go 4GB in the future.
