Hey everyone, I have decided to build my first PC due to the software I am using needing a specific Nvidia Quadro graphics card which isn't usually specced on gaming or everyday PCs.

I have had a look around and for my budget (£500-£550ish)I have found this:

PC Spec:
Processor: Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Mobo: Asus P8H61 PLUS Intel H61 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard **B3 REVISION**
RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G)
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (0F10383)
PSU: OcUK Swift 550W Silent Power Supply
DVD Drive: Samsung SH-S222AB/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Case: BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black
Graphics Card: Nvidia Quadro 600

Will this all work? Can anyone suggest anything that will make this faster/better without increasing the price too much? Also I haven't put any fans on the list, will I need more than the one that comes in the case and the CPU/Graphics card fans?

Cheers in advance!

Jonny

Oh and just incase it is of interest I will be using Avid Media Composer, the minimum requirements are:

OS: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), Windows XP Professional SP3 (32-bit), Windows Vista Business SP2 (64-bit), Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz processor or faster
Memory: 4 GB of RAM (6 GB of RAM recommended for Windows 7 and Windows Vista)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Quadro FX family3 (FX 560 or higher)
Internal Hard Drive: Minimum 80 GB 7200 rpm hard disk

The main problem with your spec is the PSU, never skimp on the PSU quality.

And the H61 board you selected is expensive for what it is, there are much cheaper H61 boards, or this H67 board that offers SATA3.0 and USB3.0 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-172-MS

There is 8GB of RAM on today only deal also, it will just run at 1333MHz which is the maximum speed the chipset can run at.

Just add a Quadro card etc.

The quadro is PCI-Express so will fit in the mobo fine. You could consider the H-67 mobos to get USB3 support.

Someone if not me will say that PSU is cheap and nasty. We usually spec around £45-60 for a PSU, that said your choice will work just more likely to take components with it, if and when it goes pop!

The case is personal preference really. I quite like the Zalman Z9 plus as a budget case (£45ish i believe) has 2 120mm fans, room for more and a digital temp display on the front.

Are you ordering today? It's worth keeping an eye on the daily and weekly offers. There is nothing wrong with the RAM you spec'd but another brand might be cheaper on the day you order.....just a heads up!

Good luck with the build and probs or Q's post back, it's why we are here

Wow, thanks for the fast replies.

I will definitely change the PSU for something more reliable and thanks for the heads up about the daily deals and Motherboard.

I'm not in a huge hurry to get it built so It may be worth looking for some deals to try to save some money/get better stuff for the same money.

Cheers for the advice,

I'll let you know how it goes and what I end up with!
