Will this work?

The venomous X is good - but it is coupled with low speed 120mm fans - so it will be whisper quiet - but it won't cool at the same level as top-end tower heatsinks and captive liquid coolers.

The thermaltake frio advanced is a decent cooler, but it is a bit expensive considering it doesn't perform quite as well as the other top-end tower CPU coolers (here is a review).

If you are going down the route of a tower heatsink and want to buy from OCUK then the best options with the best cooling performance are the Noctua NH-D14 or the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. Other coolers on the same performance level are the Thermalright Silver arrow and Thermalright Archon - but these are not currently available on OCUK.

used Kingston twice, both times they just blew up/had so many faults upon delivery etc etc. And i am a corsair fanboy

The Corsair 600T case will fit that cooler without any problems.

However, the Corsair Dominator RAM (due to the large heatsinks) won't work with this cooler. Therefore, if you switch to low-profile, cheaper and basically just as fast RAM like this Kingston kit (x2) then you will be able to fit it all and save yourself some money.

If you would rather stick with corsair then this kit is basically made for you. Looks really nice, low profile and only £10 more per kit.

This spec seems wrong and you havent provided any good answers to cmndr_andi questions in regards to the Motherboard/RAM and Windows Ultimate.

Why do you feel you need these items?

Nothings future proof at the end of the day. theres always a new socket in the works.

That ASUS board doesnt do anything special that a £130 Gen3 board cant do, apart from feature a NF200 chip that allows more GFX cards than the usual pair.

In fact because it has a NF200 chip, not all of the PCI-E16X slots will be Gen3 compatible if at all.

That's a very good point, looking here this ASUS Maximus 4 Extreme Z doesn't support PCI-E Gen3 at all. So in terms of future upgrading, this board is worse than a £122 boards like this which can support PCI-E v3 when used with an Ivy Bridge CPU.

But that is only a micro-ATX board. So when running two high-end graphics cards they will be VERY close together (so the top card will likely have issues with cooling) - plus they will use up all the expansion ports.

I know future proofing is a near impossibility, i just wat something that can last at the least 3 years or so, or is easily upgradeable
