Hi, Im about to buy 2 3650s too run in crossfire but im unsure if they will run on my mobo. My mobo is a DFI LanParty RDX200 which supports crossfire, but will the new cards run ok and with out the stupid dongle?

Cheers

New cards don't use the dongle, they are all CrossfireX now, which use internal bridges like SLi to connect the 2x cards, and also allows mix and match of series, i.e you could pair a 3870 with a 3850 etc..., and can also pair 3 or 4 cards (well when the CrossfireX driver is out in March sometime you can), they may work on that board, but not 100% sure unfortunately.

Ahh, cheers. I had droped out of computer stuff since the Opteron/FX57 days...lol so Ive not kept up with the newer stuff. Anyone else tryed crossfire'ing newer cards with 1st gen crossfire boards? As for the cable, I ment the cable that you had to connect at the back of the cards for the older crossfire cards. Ow and by the way, what would I be better doing, buying 2 3650 256 gddr3 or 1 3870 for about £6 more?

Yeah the Crossfire cable is no more, they got shot of that donkey's ago, its now exactly the same as SLi. :)

This was the dongle, which needed one card to be the old master card (which is no more either).

from the 2000 series and up they all connect with a bridge cable inside.

your motherboard is crossfire so it'll run on it. even if yours runs at 16x/8x or 8x/8x it'll still work.
