Will we ever get another...

being able to play online multiplayer in sports games (mainly football and racing) with my PS3 on the TV instead of the limited PC games was one of the biggest wows for me

Resident Evil 1, at the first zombie you see. Pretty much fill my pants every time I see it.

Will you ever be 5 years old again? That feeling of wowza was it part due to being a child getting excited and carried away by something new and exciting as children naturally do. Now that i / we are adults everything seems much less impressive.

Having said that, the leap this time around is not very impressive. I believe the increase or acceleration year on year of computational power peaked in the mid late 90s sp it probably was a bog leap. I wasn't allowed a ps1 so i wouldn't know XD

Good chunk of people on the forum were adults when the Ps1 came out. I remember seeing it in the local import shop (i ended up paying £525 for my ps1) toshinden looked pretty incredible.

That said I think buying my N64 was a bigger impression, waverace and mario 64 just looked so much better than what was out on the PS1 at the time.

It's not a console, but the first time I played shareware Doom on my mate's dad's work PC (an HP) it knocked my socks off. Coming from a well loved Amiga (Civilisation, Cannon Fodder, Sensi Soccer, Speedball 2 et al) it was a pure glimpse of the future. Mind blown, and I knew the Amiga had had it's day.

3DO was the wow moment for me, the original Need For Speed where you could do as you like in a car, first proper crashes and sounds.

Wow, not many of us around. Mario on N64 and then Need for Speed on 3DO have to be my highlights.

FFVII was the point on my PS1 where I thought wow - As others have said I just do not see us getting any sort of jump that we have had in the past.

yeah I think the N64 smashed it really I was born in 85 and had mega drives then ps1 then n64 and so on.

One game that really sticks out for me though, is Gran Turismo one, I remember reading so much about that game getting butterflys in my stomach, I must have been 13. I couldn't wait for it.

I remember watching replays and thinking, man this looks so real lol.

edit, just watched the intro on youtube. Epic into tbh

Oh and GTA 3 for the ps2 was rather epic too

This right here. Another issue is that we put too much faith in consoles these days.

They were always these magical things that drastically improved each iteration thanks to how fast technology moved back in the day and how many different games/ game types/ styles were created to take advantage of this.

Don't get me wrong tech moves fast nowadays too but graphics/ processing power can be pushed faster than we can push genuine new ideas these days.
