Will Win7 64bit work with this system?

Just bought this in a blind auction:

IBM Intellistation A-Pro
Dual 2.8GHz Opteron,
2x80GB SATA drives,
Nvidia FX3450 Video,
16GB RAM

..and was wondering if Win 7 64 bit would work fine with it. I heard someone mention that it may not and that XP 64 would be better.

Anyone any thoughts/experiences

Don't see no reason why Windows 7 wouldn't work on that system as it meets all the requirements. In fact it would seem wrong to install XP on a rig like that

Thanks folks. Only reason I ask is that someone who also bought one (an IT pro) said he'd heard that Vista/7 has "issues" with this rig as it is a lot older.

Mr IT Pro needs to go back to school, methinks! Windows 7 will have no problems. And if he was the one suggesting XP 64, he is an idiot.

Also, as an aside, your sig is massive. May want to reduce the font size.

I dont think the FX3450 has drivers for Windows 7. Worst case; you may not be able to get Aero effects. You may want to look into that before installing Win 7. Everything else will be fine.

How much did you pay for the system if you dont mind me asking?

The Windows 7 drivers are on nvidia's website for the FX3450

Bearing in mind it was a blind auction, there were only 28 machines and I "really" wanted one - £200.
