will the 360 go down in price with the release of the PS3? and i *think* i heard that there is a v2 of the 360 coming out

is that true?

I think MS will start to become more aggressive with the pricing of the Xbox 360 once the PS3 is more mainstream. As for the V2 360, from what I've read it's all just speculation. MS has neither confirmed nor denied anything, not that I have seen anyway.

If that's true, hopefully it's sooner rather than later. I really want an Xbox 360 now but don't want all these problems that come with it.

im pretty much in the same boat as you. if an improved version is coming out then ill just wait for that

its a bit risky getting 360 these days ,we get loads back faulty at our store
i would wait till after ps3 launch maybe ms might announce something then

tbh how much cheaper do u want it?
I seen a core for under 200 quid with Viva piniata, Table tennis and a mem card. And even then, better deals than that can be had.

You can't argue with £150 for a Core Unit.
Some of the deals out there are excellent.

People also forget, a hell of a lot more 360's are working rather than not, and a replacement is free if it does. My 2005 model is still working.

If there is a newer one coming out surely some sort of announcement will be made at GDC which begins today? Worth holding off for 1 more week I think.

I think with the price of a core being 'available' for £150 and a premium for £230 lately, I'd say prices are likely to more widely drop to these levels..

I have a feeling that as PS3 approaches MS advertising will go ballistic. A price drop and prime time TV adverts stressing the Xbox360 price will do them the world of good.

I hope not or ill be seriously miffed tbh, dont think its fair that if they bring out a better v2 model ie with a 120gb hd and HDMI...altho im not too fussed about the HDMI bit...well not yet.

If that happens then ill be selling my v1 360 which still works a treat and get the v2 model if they should release one in black that is.

Just got one myself the other week - with the 1 year warranty and the offer for £49.99 to have an extended 2 years warranty, you can't really go wrong imo.

I don't understand the "it is not fair if they release a newer improved 360" attitudes from some people.
Surely we want the 360 / PS3 to be continually reviewed and improved and to remain cutting edge?
Or do we really want games companies to make a bit of hardware every 5 years with nothing inbetween?
The 360 last year at £280 was superb value. They are now cheaper. Should we complain that people now can get them cheaper than we did? Is it "not fair"?
We expect TV's, Cars etc to evolve and improve as soon as possible. I think we should expect the same of our games consoles, as long as the new one can play older games and the older one can play the newer games then what is the problem.
If they bring out a V2 I'll have one of each :)

well i just got mine for £150 in that offer the other week so cant complain if they bring out a slimmer, bigger hd, quieter model. My memory card will do for a while anyway so can always plug in the bigger HD if they bring one out. Whats this HDMI thing though? Not really up to date on all these tv spec things.
