Williams launch thread

I still think the '08 cars are some of the best looking cars we'll ever see. Sure, they had every manner of winglet and flap hanging from them... But they looked, purposeful? I think that's the right word.

Show someone who's not into F1 that image and they immediately can appreciate the intricacy of Formula 1. Show them a picture of an 09' car with its massive front wing and tiny rear wing and they'll struggle to understand how it's faster than a GP2 car!

 Good god no.

For me, the MP4/4 through to the MP4/6 are stunning. Lotus 25 and 49 are utter porn.

personally i think something like the mclaren 2012 car mixed with the 2008 rear wing and something between the 2008 and the mclaren 2012 nose would be the perfect looking F1 car today. just a shame that they would make so much downforce that the air would be ruined for a good two seconds behind it, making overtaking impossible

McLaren running in the first test a couple of years ago with the old rear wing and new front wing was much better, but still not great.

I actually have a canvas of this, and I have to say it certainly looks better than the odd combination of a skinny rear wing and massive front wing. But I still much prefer the old wing setup. I think the current winglet-less cars with the low, wide rear wings and smaller front wings of old would look pretty cool.

Your assuming someone who wouldn't understand how an F1 car could be faster than a GP2 car would actually be able to tell the difference between the 2 cars anyway!

Oh, and not to mention that GP2 cars have had wide front wings and tall skinny rear wings since the start of 2011 anyway. :p
