The drive will work fine although you may have to use a jumper to limit it to SATA I operation, I don't know how Samsung do it on their drives but some need to have a jumper set, Seagates for instance come with the jumper already in place but others may be different.
Also just as a slight correction it isn't quite true to say that it will run at half its speed, SATA I doesn't have as fast a potential throughput but hard drives don't often get anywhere close to the theoretical maximum, they are limited by the speed of the drive itself mechanically more than the speed on the interface normally.
