Win 10 won't activate after new mobo?

does anyone know if the windows 10 retail boxes have transfer/hardware changes limits? as I've bought windows 10 home retail just as a backup if i can't get my windows 10 pro free to activate anytime in the future.

After update of win 7 ultimate retail to win 10 pro, I had to change a motherboard (ASUS to Asrock). I needed to reactivate but that was done over the internet with no interaction by telephone to MS.

you went from win7 to win10 using the free upgrade or did you buy win10? if u used the free upgrade then i already know that your able to change hardware on that device but there's a limit on how many times you can do it, which i think it's 4 times. also i don't think it be transferred to a totally different device, as some of hardware as to be the same so it knows it's still that device, if you get what i mean

but i wanted to know if the windows 10 retail boxes (meaning payed for windows 10) have the same limits? if it's like previous retail licenses then you can change hardware as many times as you like and transfer from pc to pc.

Yep - And selected Significant HW change hence the chat with MS.Weird thing is, my Memory, CPU, Disks are all the same, only true difference would be the NIC went from a Realtek model to an Intel version.

In the end I dropped the Win 10 iso, and a fresh install with the same key that would not activate in the first place.
