Win 7 - disabling services

It's pretty unnecessary with Windows 7. I can't imagine you'd get a noticeable speed boost.
 
I'd agree with the previous comments in this thread. Windows 7 looks to be the first OS I've used that manages the services very well. There's no need to play with the services unless you want to turn specific features of Windows off, like the Backup or the Security Centre.
 
Even though W7 manages its own services very well it's is always worth a look at any third party crap running in the background and making sure it doesn't start when you reboot. Lots of lazy little "helpers" (you know the ones) lurking around on the off chance you'll plug in one of their products.

I wouldn't spend more than 5 minutes on that job though, and certainly not go to the trouble of finding and reading a guide. There is a lot of FUD out there regarding Windows services.
